That's just not true. People don't use language that way. When you use a phrase like "that guy really rubs me the wrong way," you don't even think about how it's a non-literal phrase. You're just familiar with the idiom, recognize that it fits the situation, and you say it. When you say something like that, it never even crosses your mind what the phrase actually means. You can absolutely use a sarcastic phrase without it ever entering your head that it's sarcastic.
Anyway, I think I've argued my point well enough, so I'm done gaying up this thread. If anyone else replies to my shit, I'm just going to call them stupid and fat.
