And this happened because Longhorn was axed and Vista was delayed. Windows 9 will be out in 2 years at most.

I don't even know that I need anything more than 7 TBH. It's doing what I need, and well. Unless some wild ass protocols come out that 7 can't handle, I think this might be me sticking with 2k instead of XP.
Every other version of Windows sucks. XP = Good, Vista = Shit, 7 = Good, 8 = Shit.
So is anyone playin' Tribes? If so, add "conrooks"
Before XP was ME, so yes, you are correct... Although I didn't mind Vista too much. I didn't have all the issues everyone else seemed to have. As a Media Center user it was a major upgrade for me over XP Media Center Edition. Other than Media Center though it wasn't a major upgrade IMO.
I finished some minor surgery on my box this morning. A couple months back we had a power surge that hosed up our refrigerator, along with the PSU and one HDD in my PC. So I replaced an old 550W Rosewill with a Silver rated 750W Corsair PSU and got a nice 7200RPM, 64MB cache, 1TB HDD for Steam. I carried over the old 320GB drive that used to be my OS drive before the SSD was installed, so I have the SDD for Windows, the new HDD for Steam, and the 320GB drive for iTunes. The only way it could get better is if I were ready for a new CPU, GPU, MoBo, etc., but that's next year's menu.
Oophorectomy?
You should've seen my 9800GT when I pulled it out to swap in the 460. I noticed my card was running at about 75-80º F idle and hitting 100+ under load while my CPU was sitting pretty at like 35º, but since I was going to replace it anyway I didn't bother checking it. When I removed it from the case and flipped it over to see the fan I couldn't even tell it was there. There was a hole in the fancy decorate plate on top for the fan to be in, but inside it was such a thick mass of crap that it just looked like it was filled with dust. Good times.
I quite liked the demo on Syder Arcade. It's only available on Desura, but there's no reason Steam needs all my money.
Skip to 0:30 for gameplay, and for some reason the last 2 minutes are useless as well.

Nvidia has been working on the "GeForce Experience".
Five years in development, it's a massive database that contains info on GPU's, CPU's, mother boards, operating systems and games. With one click the system looks at the game you are going to play, your rig and automatically adjusts the settings (and updates any drivers if needed) to give you the best experience. Beta is set to start on June 6th.
That's pretty cool. I hope you can set preferences though. For example, I'd like to prioritize frame rate over AA or especially V-Sync.
