I want a HDTV for my bedroom, think 26'-30'.
I look at the ones in circuit city and best buy, but am not overly impressed with any of the LCDs.
I want to keep it under $800, what are some good options for something like that?

Did you check out any of the Westinghouse? I read good things about them and they fall within your price range. Don't judge too harshly with what you see at BB/CC though only because they usually turn up the contrast and the HDTV feed is shit (split to hell).
Look for Consumer Reports, they just did an article on HDs. It should still be on the newstand. I used it to get my Toshiba DLP.
Also go to www.secondact.biz for a good deal on refurbs.
try to find a panasonic Tau CRT HDTV. Amazing picture, and since its crt the colors blow away LCDs
The Tau has a 26 and 30 inch model, but most stores stopped carrying them about 6 months ago
Its also widescreen. They should be around 400-600 bucks
I used to have a Tau. No complaints.
found on the panasonic website. sounds like a deal breaker to me.
What's the difference between 720p and 1080i HDTV broadcasts? Does my Tau™ Series HDTV monitor support both?
HDTV signals can be broadcast in either 720p and 1080i. It's up to the broadcaster which signal format to use, and both have their benefits. Our Tau™ Series HDTV monitors display 1080i signals in their native format. For 720p broadcasts, you can use the settings on your HDTV set-top tuner, cable box, or satellite tuner to convert a 720p signal into a 1080i signal that your TV can display.
Go to your local Costco and see what looks good. If you don't like it, return it.
