Hey guys, I picked this up from Best Buy today, and I got a headset last week. Perhaps we can co op online tonight, and rub our sackboys together.

I'm down with sack on sack action.
Thanks, but I was wondering about hearting a specific player rather than a level. As in the Celebrity trophy- "You were hearted by 5 or more people as a player"

A problem occurred when attempting to connect to the LittleBigPlanetTM servers.
My girlfriend got a hold of one of the lolrecall versions from Sears or some shit.
This game looks fucking hot.
zomg opaque.
the servers are temporarily down because of server side glitches, and theyre working round the clock to fix it.
They should have worked round the clock while they were fucking around with the muslim shit to get the servers working.
There's no reason for the servers to be down at this point. What, did the beta not clue them in that this might be popular? Or maybe the large print-run? There must have been some clue along the way that there was going to be strong demand to play this, no matter how subtle and hard to interpret.
James
Yeah the online servers were terrible when they Beta was up, but at least you could log on and TRY to play (but it would usually just freeze). For them to be down at this point is absurd.
I'm debating whether or not to pick this game up tomorrow. I'm not really into the whole "online play" thing though. Does this game offer enough of a single player experience to warrant a purchase?
Not really. The whole thing is about community/sharing/developing. The single player game is just kind of there to acclimate you to all of that (and to earn stage building pieces)
I had a pretty good time with the single player levels, and the game points out what parts of a level you'll need a partner to access. Even if you don't play co-op, you'll find the score challenges (compared to other players that have completed the level) to be enough make going back to a played level more interesting.
Got a good chunk of time to invest in this today. Overall I think it does a lot of things right and what's wrong could easily addressed in the obvious sequel. Trying to co-op levels are proving to be flaky. One trip can be melted butter and the next has the given spider-man capabilities to co-op players and has sackboys bouncing all over the place.
I picked this up today and played through the first few single player levels. So far, I'm sad to say, the game is boring me to tears. I like the 2.5-D point of view, and I enjoy the cutesy character design....but the gameplay just feels "blah" to me. It seems less about platforming and more about collecting a ton of shit (i.e. stickers, clothing, etc) that I could care less about.
For some reason, it hasn't given me the option to play online yet or anything either....do I have to play so much of the single player first?
Either way, I'll play a few more hours of the single player tomorrow and hope it wins me over. Otherwise, I'll be selling this mighty quickly.
i just played my TNL level on LBP gold finally, and im sad cause all the stickers were flipped, so everything is backwards, but at least, from the looks of it, all the prizes remain intact as i had left them!
Also, Korly, i pwned your score on it
If I try this again and the servers suck I'm going to be so pissed.
This is a long established fact and why it surprises anyone this late into the game is a bit surprising to me. It's up to the developers, the PS3 itself doesn't do it. If a game doesn't explicitly say it is displays in either 1080p or 1080i, there is a high probability it will downscale to 480p on 1080i-only sets.
I'm passing on LBP from what I've played of it.
It sucks but your only choices are to get a modern HDTV or to stop playing PS3 games because it makes no sense to complain about something that has been a well known shortcoming since the PS3 launch.
Ok, there was an update for this and it seems to be running well now. Just tried the TNL level and it got me a few trophies :)
Hay, I finally finished every tutorial in the game. Now to never create a level on my own!
I played this for a few more hours last night, and this game just isn't my "cup of tea." The graphical style is definitely outstanding, and the game is great from the technical "build your own level" standpoint.
However, the gameplay just wasn't there for me. If they kept the style and focused the game on more fast paced platforming elements I would have really dug the hell out of this. Instead, the single player didn't do anything for me, and I've never been much of a "create a level"/"online multiplayer" type of guy.
So, my copy of Little Big Planet has been put up in the Trade Depot now...in case anybody is interested in buying it :)
great games last night andy, that damn co-op portion was a bitch!
well have to co-op again.
I'm on now if anyone's up for co-op.
Jesus Christ.
(EMBEDDING WOULD RUIN IT)
awesome.
took a second, but i think i figured out how they did it.
That's rad. Can you play that on a US copy of the game or are user-created levels region locked?
user created are region free
I can't find anything when I search for it. If anyone knows how to get that level, lemme know pls.
Incredible video.
That is pretty sweet, but that's my thing with user content. Most of it isn't that enjoyable to play. Looking neat is cool, but after you see it once, it's 'eh, ok, now what'
Still, pretty rad.
KIND OF OFF TOPIC: You need to try Trackmania Forever, if you haven't already.
hey everyone!
I cleaned up the TNL level, including the nick statues. Ive also added a few more visual things here and there, AND its now fixed so that anyone who plays it can win the TNL logo sticker so you can toss it anywhere, and share it!

<3 (I thought something was wrong with my connection)
Man, I love this game. Honestly, when I picked it up (this was when the servers were down), I felt very disappointed. The control just didn't seem to click for me, and I think the way it never actually nudges you in with any kind of familiar platformer trappings left me cold. I was expecting the typical platformer themes and conventions, but the game is just not that. This game is for platformers what the first time seeing Half-Life 2 was for first person shooters. This is a redefinition of the entire genre.
Once you take it for what it is, your eyes open to what is some truly brilliant game and level design, and your mind sees the control in an entirely different light; you come to appreciate it, and realize that it is actually extremely good for the way the game is designed and plays. I think that's actually the most underappreciated aspect of this game, despite all of the media attention for so many other parts of the game; at its core, it is actually a great platformer, simply from a design and gameplay perspective.
And I can't say enough how great the soundtrack is for this game. It's so multi-cultural and fresh and unique, and so moody and atmospheric, for stages that only exemplify it in their uniqueness and lack of any kind of overarching conformitive theme. To think, I was expecting fire world and ice world, lol.
I need to play this game more. I've been caught up in other games since the beta ended.
Is the co-op online solid? It was really buggy in the beta, and I haven't tried the retail yet, for fear of system freezing.
look for the stage libidius.jp
It are rad!
good times epmode, but get your headset running! We missed out on 2 prize bubbles in the night club!
Also rawr, we broke the god of war level.

Fucking awesome. I can't wait to get this for Christmas.
Awesome.
Shit, I didn't want to buy any costumes but I might have to buy those.
those are awesome.

The Metal Gear Solid level pack for LittleBigPlanet we told you about yesterday? It's more than just eye candy; it introduces a new gameplay mechanic.
Specifically, your SackBoys (and girls) will be able to battle enemies (and each other) using paintball guns. There are even Trophies encouraging such harmless behavior among the 11 the pack will add to the game. Another Trophy: Rexecutioner. Yes, you will be able to take on an LBP-ized version of Metal Gear REX. Sony, would you kindly announce a US date?
Not up on the Japanese store yet... boo :( :(
US Date for Metal Gear LBP Pack! 12/23!!
Snippets...
I am very excited about this.Quote:
PS Blog
Over the past few weeks, we’ve been biting our tongues, and finally we can reveal our latest offering (originally ‘somewhat’ announced at this years TGS) – Metal Gear Solid packs - Available 12/23 on the PlayStation Store. ...
Metal Gear Solid Premium Costume Pack
You’ve seen Solid Snake, but have you seen the rest of the cast? (well, ok…maybe you have… ) Meryl Silverburgh, Screaming Mantis & Raiden each have their own costumes from the MGS world. Get all 4 characters for the price of 3 at $5.99 on the PS Store, or pick your favorite and buy it individually for $1.99.
Metal Gear Solid Premium Level Pack
Now that you know about our Festive Level Pack, which fills your Pop-it tool with a ton of “Create” materials, objects and stickers, our Premium Level Packs introduce that and a whole lot more. So without further adeu…lets talk about what’s inside the MGS Level Pack (and this time we mean “Level” pack…)
First off, you’ll get a new Sackboy costume… the Gurlokovich Soldier.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3296/...8e3952f3e2.jpg
Plus tons of new stickers (72), materials (12), decorations (10), and objects (18).
The objects are especially cool, why you ask…well, in addition to these ‘create’ materials, our Premium Level Packs include new Story Levels and they’re filled these new objects. That’s because, Media Molecule teamed with Konami to create 5 new Story Levels and 1 new Challenge Level for you to enjoy.
Now we couldn’t just build a level using the basic tools above, we need music, new sound effects, and new elements to provide a true MGS experience. So you’re getting these in the Level Pack, as well:
1 new background music track
3 new interactive music tracks
1 new Metal Gear Solid themed ‘sound object’
New Plasma Ball ‘danger element’
New Laser Sight ‘gadget’
New functioning Searchlight lamp – for those special ‘exclamation mark’ moments
…and finally, the piece de resistance…THE PAINTINATOR (and Paint Switch).
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3186/...435d1e67ea.jpg
Once you equip the Paintinator, you can send sacksized paintballs flying by mashing on the R1 button and using the right stick to aim. ...
In addition to the Paintinator, we’re introducing a Paint Switch, so you can attach it to any object and set it to destruct after being splattered with enough paint. ...
Add to all that, there are 12 new Trophies to unlock ...
all for just $5.99...
On online playing/sharing
Non-MGS Level Pack owners can PLAY the MGS Story Levels by joining a “host” who owns the pack and play the levels online together. Now you won’t be able to keep any objects, but you can have tons of fun just PLAYing.
MGS Level Pack owners will be able to CREATE levels with any of these items (including the Paintinator) and SHARE them online for everyone to play.
Funny vid about Metal Gear paintball.
That fucking rules. I've been enjoying this game since I got it, and the custom content is going to ensure it has a long shelf life.
That's not a bad price at all for all that new content. I'll definitely buy it.
That's pretty damn awesome.
I DLed that Festive Pack this morning, 2.99 for 2 new costumes and a bunch of new level editor items. I hope this trend of bundling themed items with the costumes becomes the norm, it's much more justifiable than the costumes alone.
edit: A patch apparently went up for the game today, they revised the custom level search options and people are saying it's MUCH better and faster than it used to be, finding the stand-out levels is a far easier process. They also fixed some physics issues.
I'm about to start playing this again after not for a month or so, so I'm happy to hear they fixed the search process -- that was my biggest, if not only, gripe with the game before. Hopefully they continue to refine it (I can't see why not).
Physics being tweaked is also a nice surprise. Hopefully we won't see any more super-long-armed sackboys in stages like World of Colour.
Got this game today. The MGS & Street Fighter content pushed me over the edge. I'm pretty fucking pumped about it. If anyone wants to play this I'd be down, if I can get my headset working that is.
Yeah K3V, that would have been much better had my mic been charged. Still, I can see this game being ridiculously fun with 4 player co-op. That one level we actually completed seemed pretty damn sweet, I can't wait to see what other awesome shit there is.
Also, getting a trophy for putting stickers all over K3V's face = win.
You left when I wanted to put cow udders on your face. Not fair :(
I like how Sackboy's mouth moves when you use voice chat. This game keeps getting better imo.
lemme know when coop goes down again plz.
Holy shit. You guys need to play the "Little Dead Space" level.
Sounds awesome, will check it out.
Also: charge up your headsets for the next session, noobs.
Goddamn I hope I get this for Xmas.
The MGS add-on is going to be totally awesome.
Yeah it is. I'll definitely be grabbing it on Tuesday. Is the SF pack worth it? Or is it just 4 costumes?
Meh. I want those costumes, but not for $5.99.
I want those costumes as well.
Why the fuck is DLC region locked?
Any info as to when the MGS pack is dropping onto PSN excatly? As of this morning it's still not up and a friend of mine is reporting to me that it's still missing in action. Hopefully it'll be up by this evening...
today by 5pm pst
Lbp Mgs tonight confirmed
I won't be able to play until way later tonight. But damn right I'm going to be downloading it immediately when I get home tonight.
Yeah, great level. I also played an undersea level where you fight a shark, that was really awesome too. should be on one of the 'cool levels' pages, it has a ton of hearts now. There was a really neat Megaman one, too.
They really need a website where you can add levels to a 'want to play' queue or something.
The MGS pack was really cool but a bit short. 6 bucks seems right, though. And there were lots of multilayered things that made the levels replayable at least a couple times; the secret race on the VR level that changed how the whole level behaved, the intro level being a target range, the trophy goals like beating rex under 2:30 and finding all the hidden VR gems in level 4, etc.
As far as the paint gun, it's great here but overall I'm not sure I like the way its been implemented. You appear to just keep it until you die, it's not restricted to a zone or anything and you can't drop it. This limits level creation options quite a bit, as you can't grab surfaces when you have it and the paintballs can trigger some switches that you might want the player to have to press themselves. As it is, you really have to either design a level entirely with these caveats in mind or just portion off the end of a level as a paintball segment, it'd be really hard to bookend it in the middle segment of a level.
I'm excited about enemies being able to shoot energy balls now instead of having to come in direct contact with the player, though, and the searchlight trigger and laser sight items could have some great applications. The idea that you could make an enemy as complex as Rex entirely out of editor tools is pretty crazy.
So I downloaded the content, and I can find the costumes....but where the hell are the levels?
You can drop the paint gun by pushing O. The biggest challenge I see is preventing people from shooting button instead of traveling to them, but that is a hurdle that I'm sure some creative people will over come. I wish there was a way to make a paint gun destroyer gas or something for those situations.
Edit: Maybe they'll just add something that you have to climb on before getting to the area where the switch would be... That should work pretty well....
It's on the store planet. When you click on the Metal Gear Solid Pack circle it'll give you the tree to play the levels like a story chapter in the main game (Yeah, It took me a few minutes to find it too. Would've been nice for a heads up from the normal PSN Store).
It took me forever to figure out where to play the MGS levels too. The UI in this game sucks huge ass.
WTF, I still can't find the levels. I only see the costumes. :(
edit: ololololol. I bought the costumes instead of the levels. I thought them were bundled together, but I guess I was wrong!
MGS content was cool, but too short :( Still good stuff, and this game is a pleasant surprise.
Dead Space and Silent Hill levels are quite good. I am impressed with some of the creativity that can be applied to the world creation in this.
dont know if it was posted before, but very cool
http://kotaku.com/5074951/littlebigplanet-as-a-shmup
I am still trying to figure out how they got everything working.
Also little dead space was awesome, TNL level 2 needs to be up to that caliber.
I don't get it. Why don't you just play Gradius?
Well, because like 50% or more of the fun of the game is being creative with the level-making tools. And like 10% or more of the fun is seeing neat ideas like Gradius translated into the charming Little Big World art style. That's why. And people that actually think that level is cool probably do play Gradius too.
Don't ask obvious questions if you don't want obvious answers.
So yeah, if that stuff rocks your boat, there you have it. It doesn't rock mine, but whatever. I've never been too interested in games based heavily on player creativity.
There's probably a really easy solution to this, but:
I'm doing Frieda's Wedding and trying to get her drunken groom back to her. He wants me to drag him home, but he's walled in in the space I found him. How the hell do I get him out?
Put him in your butt.
lol thanks K3V. And nevermind, I didn't see the lever across the spikes. I suck at video games.
... or mine. :(
Shame you can't add people to your friend list on Playstation.com. Would take the hassle out of it.
MGS level pack is officially the greatest thing ever.
If you own LBP, get this pack.
DLC Schedule
January 26th -- Chinese New Year costumes (10 days only)
January 29th -- Groundhog Day costume (one week only), God of War mini pack, Kratos costume
February 5th -- Valentines Day mini pack (2 weeks only)
February 12th -- Ape Escape costume, Toro costume
:wtf:
Dumb.
Nothing will top the MGS dlc.
:portalhug:
I never even saw a request, although I almost never get online with my PS3. I should now that I have this game, I'd like to have a bunch of you guys on so we could play the one or two games I have. But I'm going to go play this game for a hot minute so if I sign on and see a request from you K3V I'll absolutely add it.
I can't beat the last level, I tried a couple times today and it's just a bitch but I'm hoping I'll get through it either today or tomorrow.
And I need someone to help me with the 2 to 4 player parts cuz I hate not having 100% on the levels.
Edam patch up for LBP
Quote:
Without further ado, Edam goes live tonight (9pm UK time). This is a little earlier than expected thanks to the Molecules & the testing team who gave it their extra special attention. It contains the following bug fixes:
* Failed to save profile’ message not being displayed when a users profile is full.
* Object Capture Bug: switch connectors being deleted when an object is captured.
* Failed to load profile issue :where the user is thrown out to the XMB due to a texture that is not registered in their profile being present in their pod.
* Text not displaying in the text chat window.
* Slow rewind due to moderation check.
* Save file corruption which caused the game to crash when placing any object in an emitter in any level.
Hurrah!! I will post with a full cheese board update at the end of this week. Until then enjoy a nice bite of Edam on us!!
