and Monster Cable is crap, not because it doesn't cost $3200, but because thier cable is no better than 12 gauge radio shack
Of course cables matter. I own and run a recording studio, and I'd never use cheapo cables. But nothing could possibly justify that cost. They are selling power cords for over a thousand dollars! Some of the longer RCA cables are over $25,000! Cables are important, but if anybody belives they are actually gaining something by spending that kind of money, they're fooling themselves.
As an audiophile I can say run, run screaming :D
Like stormy said, cables do matter, but they don't work miracles. They just try to preserve the signal the best they can. If you have a 5 or 6 figure stereo, $3200 cables might be right for you. If you don't, look at your budget, audition some cables and decide what works the best in your setup.
Monster is indeed shite. For their lower line stuff I've found Acoustic Research is just as good for less money. For the more expensive stuff there's so many better options I couldn't begin to recommend.
BTW $3200 is nothing. Kimber sells a pair of 10ft speaker cables that cost $16,500. That's how much I paid for my car. Their 4TC is good stuff though, I use it on my center speaker.
i used the mid to highrange stuff from Rockard Phasgate (spelling dont remember) for my car a few years back and they were great
no idea if rockfared makes home cables but id imagine in all honesty you could use most of it in either id imagine
I say take the money and build a better room, seeing as how the room is probably 60% of what you're hearing anyway.

The man speaks the truth. Some of my biggest gains have been from room treatments (and cheap ones at that). For most people tearing down walls isn't an option, so we just make due.Quote:

Anyone who runs a 30ft interconnect and expects good sound is an idiot, nevermind the price. Even if I had that kind of budget I wouldn't spend $4k/meter on ICs. I get a kick out of seeing just how far I can stretch my meager budget.Quote:

$34,600 for a 30 ft. Palladium Interconnect Cable? Egads.
Using such cables in a home theater setup is akin to killing a fly with a bazooka. I can see using these things in an AMC, Chakeres, Loews, or other commercial theater.
I highly doubt anyone would use these in a home theater. Strictly for the insane audiophiles, who would never think of any multichannel nonsense (I agree, surround in music is a gimmick at best).Quote:

Very few of the theaters I've been to have had even halfway decent sound systems. They use pro audio gear, not audiophile stuff. Probably have XLR cables that run $1/ft at most.
