Achievement Points

I've never played the Alaskan one. I opted for the African Safari because hunting rhinos and elephants sounded cooler. It's a fun little game too. The graphics are decent enough, and the hunting is simple. Physics aren't really an issue, as things are more arcadey than sim-like. You have an adrenaline meter for when you're attacked by predators and your hunting sense (bullet-time) to make shooting easier.

It's a nice change of pace, since I've never played this type of game before.

Back to the topic:

I'm a bit of an achievement point whore, since I've been out of work. I'm going back through games I didn't otherwise have time to play, and enjoying getting more out of them specifically because of the points involved. Gotta admit, it got me through the mess that was Phantasy Star Universe's one player game. But it got me 1,000, so I'm not gonna complain too much.

I enjoyed Superman Returns, it just needed more mission variety.

Yeah, I enjoyed it as well. I didn't mind the lack of variety in the missions, but I did mind the frequent mission encounters when I'm just trying to explore the city. I'm not sure how this could have been done differently, though. I guess they could have made it so that you had to fly into a floating icon to start missions, but that would sort of ruin the game's continuity. As is, your only opportunities of freedom to explore the city is before boss fights, when there are no mission encounters at all.

While Civil War certainly isn't a great FPS, it is different. Reload times, archaic weapons, and, um, "history". I don't think it's a terrible game by any stretch, but if you're looking for halo/prey/etc..., then you need to skip this one.

Civil War has piqued my curiosity as well. I've just been waiting to find a used copy or for it to drop in price new. I love the CW era, and this one might be fun.

What's the ambiance like? Does it try to be faithful to the era like the Call of Duty games, or is it more arcadey?

I'll trade it to you when I'm done with it.

It tries to be faithful, but it's not nearly on a COD level.

I'm playing Meet the Robinsons, so I'd say I'm a whore. But I also checked it out because I have nothing else to play and have some time off this week.

I'm watching/helping my 8 year old play through this. It's awkward that you can't jump, but it's not terrible by any stretch and I don't think the achievements are whore-easy, either.

Games are enhanced enormously by well-done achievements like that. The best achievement lists will have you doing shit you normally would have never done while also awarding you for playing a game to completion and helping you track your progress. When games like Madden give you hundreds of points for shit like getting a first down, it ruins everything.

Its the most fun demo ever I'll give you that. If they spent 1/8th of the time on the game and collision detection as they did on flying it would have been the best comic game ever.
