God of War with one shitty analog stick.
I'm not looking forward to that.
I'm hoping for 2D myself. I'm also assuming it will be a sidestory, RDM.
Fucking solid, I picked a great time to buy a psp.
Nice, if it controls well and I am there.
I despise playing 3D games on PSP because the analog stick is terrible.
I'd wait until E3 (or E for All as it's called now?) and see if Sony unveils the new design. The current PSP has a terrible D-pad, terrible analog stick, unresponsive face buttons and a screen with a horrible refresh rate. Even with it's homebrew capability it's tough to recommend it to anyone.
my complaint about my PSP is just the screen, or more like the fact theres a good amount of dust thats collected between the screen and the plastic cover. That and this battery thats being a bitch will probably be the reason ill rebuy the damn thing, as much as id ont want to.
I've already purchased quite a lot of crap for it, not to mention I hear this makes the analog and pad a lot better. Which I again have already purchased, aside from that if they do come out with a new model it's going to take a while to crack the firmware again wont it? I would rather not have to wait another year to play the shit I can play now.
just saw an interview with one of the designers, GoW PSP is a new story
Where is this interview? I'd love to find out more about a new game in what is becoming one of my favourite series.
its on gamespot, from GDC. It was about GoW2, but since they sent out press copies earlier, the GoW PSP flyer was in there, so they asked him about it. All he said was its for PSP, theyre excited, and theyre certainly not doing a port.
apparently theyre showing off details right now for the midnight launch of GoW2, so expect news later today.

GoW3 1080p, with new vibrating functions, and sixaxis support.

Sweet! A reason to dust of the PSP. I don't get the "whippin DS on quality" line but whatever. Any reason for a new GoW is great as far as I'm concerned.
Ebay search psp D pads.

PSP seems to be handling GOW pretty well.
Should have just made God of War II longer and skipped this.
Because I don't own a PSP and do own God of War II. It's really just pure economics on my part.
When I see something like this it makes me sad Team Ninja chose the DS.
But then I just think about how terribly a Ninja Gaiden game would control on PSP and all is forgiven.

sign up for free UMD special edition demo
By the time this comes out I expect to be on my seventh psp.
God of War + PSP = Mangled hands
I think the PSP is good for some games, but right now, there are oly three platforms that aren't worthless, and that is 360, PC and PS3.
I think the psp has great games, but it is the biggest load of shit ever when it comes to reliability.
lol.
I ordered the UMD. Thanks for the heads up.
I'm glad Ready at Dawn is doing the game. I really enjoyed Daxter and having played my psp since beating that. CoO is definatly bought...
I already made this thread like two months ago. The mods are doing a hitty job on duplicate threads these days.
Where is your thread?
P.S. damn:
1. Advanced Search
2. Yoshi
3. All threads started by user
4. Gaming Discussion
5. First page
6. ???
7. Profit
I actually put in the search terms I knew I used, as well as the by user, and got nothing. Oh well. <3 Mech
That is one gorgeous portable game.
Where the fuck is the PSP redesign?
God damn!
Wow, I might just have to get a PSP even just for this game. Looks slick.
15th to 18th, a ton of announcements apparently.
ex: some is leaking, heavenly sword is getting some kind of animated treatment
Gameplay vids:

It looks nice and all, but console plz.
There have been talks about a PSP "hardware refresh", but it probably won't be out until later this year.
I'm looking forward to the official announcement. I hope the "refresh" is as big a change as the DS to DS Lite upgrade.
Excellent. I'm glad I kept some of my harder to replace games when I traded off my PSP.
Hm. It doesn't look like it's running at 60 fps - or even 30 fps - in the videos. I can't imagine playing God Of War (or any other similar badass action game) without a smooth framerate.
did anyone get the demo? Mine came in like a week ago and i just got down to playing it. Its god of war on a small screen, nothing was sacraficed throwing it on th ePSP. The oddest thing though is holding botht he shoulder buttons then using analog stick to dodge, it takes really getting used to.
For the post above, it seems to run at 60FPS most of the time, but does dip, but nowhere near unplayable, looks great on the PSP.
I did get it about a week or so ago. I tried to search for this thread but the search was all fucked up. Anyway, the game is bad ass. It really looks and feels exactly like GoW on the PS2. I didn't find the dodging to be a problem at all. For a couple of seconds it was odd not hitting the right analog stick but once I knew what was what I was kicking ass and dodging like a pro.
I got mine earlier in october. I enjoyed it cept for it freezing twice on me heh. Looks pretty impressive for a psp game.
I never got mine and i signed up for that shit...
I got mine earlier this week.
I thought it wasn't coming.
I got mine yesterday... finally and I have to say I was quite impressed that they fit that game in there. Tho the graphics did seem like they were pretty jaggy maybe they'll smooth them out for the final release.
I'm stuck above in the throne room where you need to pull
blocks out and I'm locked in. Any ideas?.
Pull the blocks out then run around the left side of them, You'll find that that side is hollow.
Thanks Bbobb.
I was stuck there for abit too. Not that this game has too many puzzles.
EGM's Rumor Mole says this is eventually coming to PS2.
well, many other big names on PSP like Silent Hill or Syphon Filter did, so I am sure Sony wont miss the opportunity here.
Not according to this from the Ready at Dawn site:
"Moving forward, we can confirm that Chains of Olympus will be our last PSP game as we’re moving on to other projects and other ideas on other consoles. We can also confirm that this will be our first and last God of War game as, just like Daxter before it, there will NOT be a PS2 port of the game. We like our games PSP exclusives."

Ditto. They are great devs.
I just finished this now and thought it was a blast. Though, I've never been fond of the PSP's extremely awkward joystick/nub, you get used to it after a while.
Combats the same as it's always been, with the exception of the Gauntlet of Zeus, a huge, golden armlet fist thing Kratos gets to swing around and charge with blue lightning. It's pretty wicked and unlike that lance in God of War 2, I found myself actually using the secondary weapons offered at hand. The Gauntlet was actually more useful than the Blades of Chaos for one or two fights.
Graphics looked great and they look pretty much the same as they did on the PS2 versions, just a little grainy.
Everything seems to have fell into place perfectly with this game. Ready at Dawn makes some killer games. Is anyone else playing this?
I'm not holding my breath this will stay on psp, no matter what the developers say. And if it does, drop to twenty soon pls.
I just got the Gauntlet and it is pretty awesome. I am loving this game, but I agree, it is probably coming out on the PS2 by end of the year.
Well, their Daxter game never made it to the PS2 so maybe they are correct.
It's too bad the N64 isn't still being manufactured so that we could get some DS ports.
Are you still crying about the DS?
Until it stops fucking up my hobby.
Then, you should be against the PSP, too. Isn't it fucking up your hobby by taking away games from the home console front where they could be part of the PSN service, or just released for PS2 and playable on a capable PS3? And, you get the added bonus of having a real analog stick versus the crappy nub that we have on the PSP.
It will come to PS2. It's just that RAD will not be the ones handling the port.
I just finished the game today, and it was awesome all the way through. It took me about 5 hours to complete, but those 5 hours were action packed. I love this series so much, and each time I complete one of the games it make me sad since I know it'll be a while before I can play the next installation.
This game is fucking awesome. Graphically and soundwise this is the most impressive PSP game Ive played yet.
Im not liking the dodge mechanics (L+R+ Nub) and my weak hands get a little worn out using the nub to control Kratos, but those are my only complaints.
My only problem with this game was a lack of boss fights.
Other than that it was good.
GoW 2 had nearly double the amount of boss fights, though. I thought it was great, frankly...
The Colossus, Barbarian King, Euryale, Kraken, Lahkesis, Clotho, and Zeus. So it has four more bosses than the first game. But man they could have paced it out better, it seemed like three or four of the bosses were super close to the end.
Chains of Olympus has the best second weapon of all the God of War games. The gauntlet is cooler than the chain blades.
Well I held off getting this game when it came out which wasn't easy since I love the GoW franchise. I waited so I could get the red PSP slim bundle with the option for a TV hook up which I think every handheld should have from here on out. Anyway, I beat it yesterday and the game was really well done and tied into the story from 1 and 2 perfectly. A must for PSP owners.
I plan to pick that up today on my lunch break. I need some kind of action style game to play. Question though does it allow you to quick save at any time? I know that would make the game easier but I would like to play it at work.
No but you can put the system into sleep mode which kind of functions the same way as a quick save would.
Yeah, I <3 the GoW series too and loved every second of this game. You can tell this wasnt some quick, shitty, cash run, spin-off title. Some time and effort was really put into it and it shows.
You know I am always afraid that I am going to reset the damn thing when trying to put it in sleep mode. Do you hold it down? or do you push it once?
Yeah, I really dont trust goin into sleep mode either. I'd rather just get to a stopping point and turn it off, but I dont really play my portable games on the go like everyone else either. Just break it out when Im watching a ball game or something.
But, yeah, press it once.
Found this with a quick google:
To enter sleep mode:
With the system turned on and a game playing, slide the power/hold switch up. Hold the switch for less than 2 seconds. The power indicator flashes and then turns off, and the system enters sleep mode.
Thanks, I'll start doing that. I would put in a new game some times then the old game would pop up and I would constantly put it back into sleep lol.
Yeah, that's why I said it.
So I picked up the game and I love it so far thanks glass for the help on the quick save I played it all during lunch at work and was able to resume my progress when I got home. <3 I never really played the GOW on the PS2 and this game convinced me to go get the others next check.
Yeah, the game really is great. I'm sure you will love parts 1 and 2 since you've been enjoying this one. I'm curious to see how you enjoy the story after you've finished all 3 since you are playing them out of release order but in chronological order.
I just beat it and I thought it was great. A little shorter then I was hoping for I think my final game time was about 10 to 11 hours. I just got off ebay and bought GoW 1 for $9 so I can't wait to get that in.
So the psp Gow is a prequel? I did not know that.
