Gamefaqs can be cool, and has its share of intelligent posters (as can be found in that very thread). It's true, there's a lot of tripe to sift through, but I've gotten used to it.
Regarding the DLC, if you make excuses to buy it, you're part of the problem, and will only have yourself to blame when this bullshit becomes the norm. A time I see fast approaching.

Some of the game-specific boards can be perfect when you want to talk more in depth about games, especially obscure-ish ones. i love this game, only played a little bit so far . transitions are so smooth between indoors and outdoors and in and out of buildings and different parts of the levels. theres tons of hidden stuff, and best of all are the online scoreboards for each level. :link: definitely top 10 of 2007 for me
