I saw this yesterday and thought it looked pretty neat. I don't really have a problem with the horsepower of the system but the lack of games however.... :\
It looks quite nice, sort of Wind Waker-ish. Capcom has been the most consistently good Japanese company lately so I'm definitely intrigued.
ok, now this is the kind of stuff i want to see.
It looks interesting enough I'm hoping for more action and less mundane puzzles/switche throwing. *-neo
I'm hoping for more mundane puzzles/switch throwing and less action myself.
Has potential...wish more Wii titles not made by Nintendo did...
It looks pretty good but this picture has me a little perplexed :doubt:
Cool character design.
This is just two days away according to EB's release date, and it could use some more hype. I don't have a Wii yet but this looks like the most promising game for it this season outside of Super Mario Galaxy. It seems much closer to a puzzle-based adventure game than a Zelda-style action-adventure. I read Nintendo Power gave it a 9/10. They're not the best source but it's still a good sign.

I've been excited since playing it at Comic Con. It feels like older PC adventure games in the vein of Monkey Island. There's a definite emphasis on solving puzzles and thinking through situations as opposed to combat. It's the only other Wii game I really want aside from Galaxy.
I haven't seen much about this game, but it really sounds interesting. It looks pretty good too.
Coulda sworn this had a thread already. But yeah, it looks really cool. I pre-ordered it a few weeks ago, and have been looking forward to it as my second Wii game ever since. <3 Capcom.
I'll be picking this up when I get my next check at the beginning of November. This looks like it will end up being one of the best Wii games...which admittedly isn't saying much.
Shit, this came out faster than I thought it would. I'll run by eb tomorrow and pick it up if they have it and pre-order hellgate while I'm at it. Good thing I had some money saved up, cause all the good stuff is hitting at once.
That's because we do. Combine please.
IGN gives it a 9.
I never thought this would be getting good reviews. What I got from it at Comic Con: I love the art, but the characters and writing is really precious and annoying.
Gamespot gave it an 8.5.
I have very little intention of picking this up but a roster spot did open up when I canceled my VB Revolution pre-order.
Trying very very very hard to be cute. You know.
i like precious things. i've been hoping this would be good. it better be good
N64?
lawl, Atari Jaguar
This game looks incredible, especially the color. Those screenshots don't do it justice, definitely check out the newest video.
Seems like it could be funny too.
The reviews may sway me, honestly was expecting the puzzle aspect to match the level of the graphics. *-neo
I have wanted to try this game since I saw the initial artwork for it.
I will keep an eye on this and purchase it (when it is discounted).
I'm pretty sure it's launching at $40.
Compass, are you playing this yet? It is so precious. It's precious and good. When the girl pirate pulls out lipstick and paints a scar on her chin, i'm in love. If the Bonnes showed up as a rival pirate gang, i would shat out of joy, not surprise, they'd fit right in.This is my favorite game of the year so far. The puzzles are ultra clever. I sat down to play a level and ended up playing for three straight hours.
'Bout to crack it open right now. Looking forward to flagrant preciousness in extreme quantities.
If you're interested in this game you may want to pick it up now. On my way to class today I stopped at 2 Gamestops, a Walmart, and a Best buy in NJ and NONE of them had the game, hell no one heard of it even. The one gamestop looked it up and said they'll be getting in 3 copies at some point but didn't know when. I lucked out and found a copy at the EB now Gamestop in the Manhattan mall.
I'm feeling this. Characters have a Klonoa-ness about them. Pirate girl with the underlings easily could've been Tron Bonne and Servbots. Given that it's Capcom, I'm curious why this isn't the case.
But, yeah, good stuff so far. Wii Remote interaction works great. Lots of sparkly treasures to collect, lists to fill out, high scores to shoot for.

I miss working there :(
For some reason, I think Capcom made a small print run of this game as they werent sure how this would do in the states. IGN has a campaign to have people buy Zack & Wiki

Usually there are hordes of new games on eBay. As of now, theres less than 10 listings...maybe 5 for this game.
The game references old school Capcom games in happy intervals. i almost cried when i was ringing the bell to the old Ghosts and Goblins music. It's making me gay again. ;_; I'm just waiting for Tron. I'm waiting.
And the puzzles. They're tight. Yes, Dyne, like a vagina. or a boo hole.
I would have this already if I could find a copy.
I'm pretty sure this is floating around at work.
Hurray.
Shin wasn't kidding, this game was nearly impossible to find. I managed to find a copy after calling and visiting 8 or so stores. I ended up having to get the last new (and gutted) copy at a GameStop somewhere out of the way.
Can't wait to get it home after work. Maybe it's an isolated case here in NY, but I would go with an online purchase for this one.
Yes I do, not ever game shipped during this time period is shipped in giant quantities.
see
No it would seem most stores are only getting 2 - 3 copies of the game if any. I don't know if stores just didn't order any or if Capcom way undershipped this. I also don't think it's just a NY thing I couldn't find a copy in Jersey, and got mine in the city. Plus if you read the thread on NeoGaf everyone is complaining about having a hard time finding the game.
Phoenix Wright was hard to find at launch too. Now it's nearly as common as Madden.
That's because Capcom did a couple reprints of Phoenix Wright. Which, yes, I think is safe to assume will be the case here as well if there's significant demand and no copies available.
Exactly. Capcom's not in the business of creating fortunes for ebay sellers. If they can sell them, they will print them.
I'd never heard of this until yesterday, and it sounds awesome.
Got mine at Target, btw.
According to Capcom
"It's being carried by pretty much all of the majors nationwide and our day one numbers were not insignificant (though they could always be higher), but if you're having trouble finding it, Wal-mart took a large order and likely won't be swamped by first day pre-order customers. It may take them a couple extra days to get it on the shelf, but they should have plenty to go around when it starts trickling into their stores (I'd assume by Friday/Saturday in most cases)."
Well, got the last copy at a local GS. Loving it so far...but that monkey is too saccharine cute for its own good.
Okay, I am sold after watching a video review and 39.99 price point.
Target here hadn't gotten this yet.
Gamestop here has FINALLY gotten it in, I shall pick this up after work(if the lord is willing and GD people don't grab it up before then).
I went to (2) EB's, (1) Best Buy, and (1) Toys R Us before getting the last copy at a local Gamestop. At both EB's I visited, they had copies there; however, they were all reserved.
I wouldn't want this game to be rare either. It's really damn good.
So the fires fucked up our deliveries and this hasn't come in yet.
The really bad news is our system is stupid and when things don't come in on the right day there's no update as to when they'll come instead, so I get "nothing pending" instead of a delivery date.
I hope it's there tomorrow.
Is this game any good or is this just good 'ol fashioned TNL hype? One of my friends bought the game and brought it over but we didn't play it cuz i was watching Hannibal Rising.
I played this for 3 hours last night.
It's pretty awesome.
Thank you Capcom for giving me a reason to dust off the Wii. I love this game! :D
ZACKUUUUUUUUU!
Finally got me a copy, bout to give it a whirl in a bit. Just from reading the box and booklet, the extra player hightlight feature is pretty neat idea. I'm sure it'll come in handy when my g/f is playing the game.
So far I've beaten the first stage and really enjoying the game. It says I've only got 70% of the jungle stage done, so either you go back to it later or I'm missing something. I'm gonna try and got thru the game without using any hints. Sometimes you can't help but die thru trial and error so maybe you can go thru a perfect run on a second go round.
Also I like the mysterious treasure which are capcom icons in their pixel goodness. So far I only got sonson, but I see a megaman outline for one of em.
This game is fun and the fact that my girlfriend can be a helper means it's doubled in value.
Heres some lil non spoiler type tips that might help some of you. It might also save you some type instead of having to back track to collect all the goodies. I'll spoiler tag em just incase people don't want any hints on anything.
1. If you see a skull on the ground, ring the bell to have Barbarous's musical conductor come out for a quick mini game for treasure.
2. If you see any part of the stage blinging or shimmering, ring the bell near that area for more hidden treasure.
I'm about done with the volcano stage and still enjoying the game. So far I've only had trouble with maybe 2 stages. I'm having to back track to pick up some of the stuff I missed earlier in the game.
I played a few stages. This game is excellent so far. This is the type of game the Wii controller works perfectly with, a point and click adventure with some added object manipulation.
I tried to pick this up today, but it was sold out. Hopefully I can find a copy tomorrow.
I've been going back to thru all the stages I've completed to make sure I've not missed anything. Also been doing it to get a better score. I like how your picture updates on the wanted list as you get a bigger and bigger total score.
I like this game. The puzzles are interesting and it uses the Wii controller well. God, Wiki has an annoying voice though. ZAKU! ZAKU! ZAKU! Everything else is great and the graphics are nice as well. It's pretty much the best game I have played on Wii so far (I don't have Super Mario Galaxy).
Has any NPD data on this game been released yet? Capcom's other Wii games have sold really well and I wouldn't mind a sequel...
Vgchartz.com says it's sold about 55,000 in the US, and only about 15K in Japan. Really surprising about the low JP numbers. They buy boatloads of all sorts of horrible gimmicky crapola for the Wii and DS in Japan, but the one game on the Wii that uses the Wiimote in a really creative and fun way in a wonderfully designed game? No, they don't want any of that.
): I guess it's doing okay in the US. Better than Phoenix Wright 3 anyway. ): ): ):
I didn't see this at my local walmart or target and I haven't tried any game stores, I generally try to avoid the hell out of them.
Is this game done being printed? Will I be able to find a copy in three months?
I saw several copies at Best Buy on Sunday after they didn't have any earlier in the week.
Late to the party, but I'm enjoying the hell out of this game. The levels demand equal parts logic and abstract thinking; it's just as much Lemmings as it is King's Quest. The design occasionally forces a little trial and error on the player, and some of the motion controls are overused (shaking the bell at every treasure chest to exorcise the completely harmless ghosts is something I could do without), but it's been otherwise perfect up through the end of the fire level.
I was surprised to find that aside from telling you how to hold the Wiimote each time you pick up a new item, the hints and hand-holding are completely optional, and that the game penalizes you for leaning on them. You're actually encouraged to reach conclusions on your own! On a Nintendo system! Holy shit!
Apparently, this has sold about 35,000 copies so far. That's just damn depressing. *-neo
I like this game a lot...but some of the deaths caused by trial and error really get on my nerves in some stages. Therefore, I can really only play this game in 30 minute bursts before it starts to get aggravating, because I'm not usually a puzzle game fan. This game just happens to be too good for me not to play though.
Would you call it Treasurin'? Treasure Hunt Genki? Treasure for the Barbados? Treasure Monkies? Treasure Pals? Treasure Dawn? Skeleton Treasure? The Name of the Rose?
It fits the game and doesn't suck. I think it's just that no one really cares for the genki look except for people that don't suck and that it had pitiful marketing. People still think it's a Zelda adventure.
The original, or working, title, Treasure Hunter Z, was fine.
Every time I try to talk about "Zack and Wiki" with someone who isn't familiar with it, I see eyes glaze over with disinterest, and I find myself clambering to try to explain no, no, it really isn't some Nickelodeon-based crap-a-thon, please just listen!
Ha ha, Zack and Cody.
I don't like Treasure Hunter Z, but you're right that it is unfortunate that it sounds similar to Drake and Josh or Zack and Cody.
Somehow, I played this for six hours yesterday. It seemed like two.
While I'm not yet sure if this is my GOTY, it's definitely the most fun I've had with a game this year.
Picked this up today and played through for a while. If only it was more "adventure" and less "series of puzzles" this would be pretty super perfect. Something about the isolation of the stages is kinda meh.
All in all MOST of this game could still be done in analog (the star going red on important parts of the stage is the most important wii-only function, movement of the character and rotation of objects/using objects could have been done with a regular old controller) and some of the wii-specific tasks, such as pulling levers and twisting keys, just sort of annoys me. The response still isn't SUPER perfect and twisting my wrist around for 3 hours has it kind of sore.
It's very hit or miss. Some of the puzzles are brilliant and some of them are trash you've seen in a dozen other resident evils or zeldas. The goblin flute stage was fantastic, and so was the guardian of the lake or whatever.
I've died more than I'd care to admit just because a lot of things have non-obvious functions. Such as in keeper of the ice, the push-button that makes everything freeze I had no idea it was going to do that. I poked it with a stick and became a popsicle. Those deaths are frustrating, I've run into a few like that. However the good levels are fantastic.
This game probably isn't on my top ten list for the year, but it's solid and I don't regret the purchase. I'm looking forward to finishing it far more than I am looking forward to finishing mass effect.
I'm ready for the lucasarts adventure pack for the Wii. Or just a more adventure-y adventure game. Wiki annoys the hell out of me.
This is the exact part that made me stop playing this game. There are some decent ideas sprinkled throughout the game, but the trial and error "sudden death" nature of the puzzles really hurt the overall experience for me.
I would trade this game in and wait for the vastly improved sequel, but sales numbers tell me that this is one of the few Capcom games that wont get a sequel.
You know, thinking about it now, I wouldn't mind the trial-and-error bits much at all IF there weren't a scoring system, because I put huge pressure on myself to get everything right the first time, and feel dumb when I don't.
The deaths themselves are cute. If there weren't a scoring system/death tracker I'd probably spend time trying to find all the fun ways to kill myself.
I like Treasurin' too. But only if it's Treasurin'! and the cover has Zack and Wiki being chased by a mummy, like that scene in the opening of Ducktales.
and how could Wiki annoy you when you want voices in Mario Galaxy? i'll take a million "ZAAACKU!!!!"'s over one more anything that comes out of Charles Martinet's mouth.
i've given up on trying to get the perfect score the first time through, it's more entertaining to see what different solutions you can find for each level. i like the deaths too. Wiki dying in the ice boss level is just too sad/cute.
Did I say I wanted voices in Mario Galaxy? Do you have me confused with Big Red? Wiki's voice doesn't annoy me, he's simply always talking to me when he shouldn't be. Bleh.
If I did want voices in Mario Galaxy, I wouldn't want them to be their current voices. Ew.
The only problem I've had with Mario Galaxy's voices was on the Wii Channel screen, where Mario annoying shrills the name of the game.
Besides that, I'm pretty cool with it... even with Mario sounding like a cat when climbing onto a ledge.
...
Oh, and yay Zack and Wiki... looks good... and stuff...
Seriously if you're looking for another Wii game to get I'd go get this, it IS really good, despite my complaints.
