Xbox 360 with LIVE co-op please.
I am curious to see how Namco handles HDTV setups with the Guncon 3.
Is there a way for Lightguns to work on Plasmas & LCDs? Or would this require a new technology?
According to Wikipedia, the GunCon 2's could not work with Plasmas, LCDs, and TVs that use 100Hz (flicker-free). So yes, it does require new technology. Again, I'm curious to see how Namco accommodates SDTVs and HDTVs. Probably would have to develop two different types of adapters (one similar to the Guncon2, the other made specifically for HDTV displays).
Just read Frog's post about HotD4. Interesting.
Where the fuck did House of the Dead 4 come from?
I think Menacer and Super Scope will work on non-CRT displays, by the way. So maybe they'll do it that way, with a little sensor on top of the screen.
I don't think EB Games is pulling our chain. This has got to be for real.
The arcade TC4 uses an infrared gun- which is what I'd guess we're getting with this version. I'll gladly throw down the $89.99 for this. A blowback slider on top of the gun would be nice, but it's not an urgent thing to have. Getting improved graphics on a home version (probably one reason it's not coming until November 13) would make up for the lack of a kicker. Namco could come up with some sick ideas for Crisis Missions using the 3-Screen system.
HotD 4 can't be too far behind. I can see Sega licensing the GunCon 3 tech for a PS3 one.
I would love to play Time Crisis in HD. Shit graphics and all. One of my favorite games of all time. I use to be pretty damn good at 1 and 2.
It's not the same without the force feedback and pedal. The
Arcade is the only way to go.
I get sad when I see a TC machine and they have some shit gun attached to it.
Once I put in $5 in a Time Crisis Machine cause I was so
hyped, only to find the gun was fuckin missing.
I don't have your Razor skill.
I'm sharp.
The time limit in the original Time Crisis sure forces the game to live up to its title. Where's your timer reset when you clear a stage or lose a life? Absent. You just get a meager time extension. And BTW, if you ever run out of time in TC1- it's GAME OVER, ala Police 911. It doesn't matter if you have all 3 lives remaining. Get another 50 cents out.
If you're really Bad ass you can play Woo style.
Most europeans still use crt tvs, so the gun would have to support plasma, lcd, crt, etc etc etc.
When I used to manage the arcade, every morning before we'd open, myself and the other manager would play time crisis over and over until we both were able to one credit it.
Good stuff.
I just with the later installments in the series were as tough as the first. When I first played Time Crisis 2, the first time I beat it took only four or five credits. After that, it only took one.
Crisis Zone was even easier since your default gun was a machine gun. The only time it was acceptable to die was in the final stage which was somewhat difficult but even then it was one credit-able.
Time Crisis 3 introduced different guns and boy were those abusable if you knew exactly where the yellow ninjas/soldiers were appearing. Grenade Launcher was pretty much the trump card in any boss battle and made sure it didn't last long.
Of course, this is asuming that your arcade has the guns properly calibrated. I've played Time Crisis 3 in a nearby movie theater that wasn't proper calibrated and it sure as hell made the game a lot harder.
Crisis Zone beeps at you if an enemy's shot is on target, which none of the other TC games do. That IMO makes it a little too easy in the arcade version.
The PS2 CZ has a major increase in difficulty- this one is definitely harder than all the TC games except for TC1, and the scoring is reworked so that you need to combo to rack up the big points. You'll be ducking a bit more.
Once you clear the arcade mode in this version, there's a Grassmarket District mission that raises the difficulty even more, with LOTS of Crisis Sightings. Derrick Lynch's successor Jared Hunter is probably the toughest Crisis series boss of them all.
The grenade launcher in TC4 works if you want to rob Jack Mathers and Gregory Barrows of their last life bars PDQ to save a few seconds. I don't use any grenades against Marcus Black in the 1st stage- mostly the MG, with two rounds of shotgun to finish him.
It's easy to dodge in all the games since a red circle immediately appears when a shot that will hit you comes on screen. The red soldiers always hit, the blue almost never and all swords and throwing weapons will hit if you're not ducking.
This formula is too easy to crack. :(
PS: My friend has the PS2 games but I've never played since his TV is about 15". Once PS2 games start dropping in price I may go pick it up.
3 was the only one I've never one credited.
I came close to 1-crediting TC4 last night. I had to continue once in the later part of Stage 3 area 3.
Player 1
Score: 4868800
Total Time: 30'58"56

BTW, the white soldiers in TC4 (the low-rank soldiers) can occasionally get the "lucky bastard" shot especially in the opening scenes of Prologue.
You need to get business cards made with random high scores on them.
At GameFAQs, the Japanese release date is listed as June 2007. If that's the truth, I'm importing.
Heres the official Japanese website for TC4. Theres also a movie up and the whole BGM soundtrack.
Heres the wiki.
You bastard Advocate.
When you linked the homepage I thought you were linking about a home port... but noooooooooooooo.
HotD4 may in fact be worse than HotD3, which was garbage.
As far as Sega titles go, neither one of them can keep up with Ghost Squad. But HotD 3 & 4 are actually decent.Quote:

QFT. Only a reload pedal is better- hopefully Namco thinks of it this time and beats the 3rd parties to it. It's hard to get used to ducking with the GunCon D-Pad.
It seems the Story mode is the Free Roaming FPS mentioned in the below quote. I'm guessing you might play as Captain Rush for this mode in some events taking place before the arcade version's story. Oh, one more thing- let's see an unlockable Wild Dog story mode with double-gun play, please.
Now, here's what Amazon.com is saying with regard to TC4. The release date they give is November 1.

For the record, Red Octane did make a metal reload pedal for the Playstation 1 and 2 Time Crisis games. It was $15, but they have been sold out for a while. You can probably find one on Ebay I suppose. It's the best way to play it...
That's hot. Now how about some VC3 to go with that too?
Then, if I sacrifice RDM Brian on an altar with a golden calf of Kutaragi, Elemental Gearbolt 2. MAKE IT HAPPEN.
Sold with the black Japanese gun instead of that orange mess!
That doesn't look much fun to use one handed. They should make the front part detachable.

THIS year in the US plz.Quote:
Time Crisis 4 (PS3, 2007)

Well that sucks... I'm still buying it day one though.
You should make a petition.
QFT. That front piece would be nice to have for Crisis Zone, OTOH. Damn, is it good to finally see a pic of the new Guncon. :D
Day one import, guaranteed. Hopefully the GC3 trigger will be better than the one in GC2, so you can fire 12 rounds a second with the handgun (some arcade superplays show the HG being fired this fast against Jack in Stage 2 Area 3).
If the US version happens to come out first (TC3 for the US beat out the Japanese release by one month), I'll get it. GameFAQs lists the PS3 import version date as June- I hope this date isn't a load of :bs: .
We need some good sized, clear screenshots of PS3 TC4 soon. Can't be too much longer.
speaking of importing, region free ftw.Quote:
PS3 owners can look forward to a port of Time Crisis 4, which is now available for play in arcades. In addition to an arcade mode, the PS3 version will include a new "Full Mission Mode" featuring PS3-exclusive scenarios. This latter mode will feature first person shooting stages which allow for full freedom of movement.
To control the new FPS stages, you'll want to make use of the new GunCon 3 peripheral. Set for release alongside Time Crisis 4, the updated gun peripheral includes two handles and an analogue stick. The analogue stick will be used to navigate the free-roaming stages.

Holy shit! The Collector's Edition is sweet!
I may have to buy that collectors edition. That's pretty awesome.
wtf, that is awesome.
PS3 jealousy.
I'll buy a PS3 eventually. Might as well pick this up for when I do.
Same here, I'll pick up a PS3 when this comes out...in the US.
I do have to buy it. TC4 and the Rush modes are already for the win, but getting the first arcade perfect TC1 and the original Crisis Zone seal the deal (IMO, the restarts at continue in the PS1 TC1 were a pain). I knew Namco would throw in some extras, but this is even better than their usual complement.
GOTY for 2007? I'm betting on it. *hugs PS3* :D
I'm all over this title...That collectors edition will be mine...
Goddamn you Namco, I did not want to buy another system.

Here's the trailer for TC4, thanks to GameTrailers.com. The arcade mode graphics look better than the System Super 256 game (cleaner textures, removal of jaggies, and higher polygon models). Rush's mode is featured here also.
"At least it won't be boring." - Giorgio Bruno
Guncon 3 backward compatible for the older games? Thats so awesome. Time Crisis 2 on PS2 is easily my favorite of the series. I'd buy that package just to play the old games on my HDTV. Thats now 2 games I'd buy a PS3 for. Metal gear and Time Crisis. Almost worth it, ALMOST.
That better not be someones wishlist or some fugazi shit from gaf that's looking to get itself on IGN. If not then I'm there day one, didn't pick up a single lightgun game last gen (except HotD2 if you are counting the DC) so I hopefully have some gems to look forward to. Shame about those sensors though, don't want to put shit on my tv =/
Fake.
360 port plz, I am trying to hold off buying a PS3 for two years.
Magic Box has a bunch of screen shots. They are also saying the GunCon 3 is wireless. :tu:
The wire may well be one of those removable Mini-B USB things like the Sixaxis.
Clearer textures definitely show up on these shots, especially the "A Craftsman's Pride" sign on the second one, the lettering on the airplane's tailfin, and the US flags. The water effect in the last shot of Page 4 and 5 also looks improved.
Bless you again, Namco. :tu: :D
Everything PS3 is region free.
I ment where he got the info on the Time Crisis 4 10th Anniversary Collector's Edition. I've got import games on my PS3 so I knew that already :)
Im sorry to deliver the news... cause im pretty pissed
anniversary edition deets = the fake
D=
Yeah, I had read that over on NeoGAF, and that was VERY mean...
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/26970.html
Near the end of the video (around 50-53 seconds), watch closely and don't blink. Wild Fang lives. That's got to be him- probably appearing in Captain Rush's FPS scenario, since he is MIA in the arcade TC4 and the glasses sure look familiar.
So is this coming out today/tomorrow?
I want to pick this up so badly...because I haven't played a good light gun game in a long time. RE: Umbrella Chronicles really doesn't even come close to the best light gun games IMHO. It just sucks that this is $79.99 :(
I was checking the Circuit City ad though, and they are giving away a $10 giftcard with Uncharted and a $5 giftcard for buying Die Hard on DVD. So, I think I'll go through with buying those...and $15 worth of gift cards may bring Time Crisis back down to the price of normal games these days :)
So does the new Guncon magically make Timecrisis 1-3 playable through the PS3 on a HDTV?
Given the Guncon 3's being an infrared powered gun, I'm doubting that- but I'd like to be wrong. Even the arcade version uses some sort of IR setup. Taking a cellphone pic of the TC4 cabinet's screen reveals some infrared LEDs surrounding the monitor.
I hope there will be ports of TC 1-3 and Crisis Zone as unlockables, if Namco hasn't found a way to pull off a GC2 emulation mode.
http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3164501
1up hates TC4
3.5
1Up is far worse than IGN. They just need to trade Shane for MarkRyan so they'd be completely worthless.
Bullshit rating for 1up review: :bs: :bs: :bs: :bs: :bs:
Argh, yet more EGM reviewer fuckery. TC4 isn't easy, but it's not cheap hard either. I've 1CCed it in the arcade, something I bet this reviewer won't do until Hell freezes over. He doesn't deserve to review any more arcade ports, IMHO.
The "Knife-Throwing-Orange Guy" is likely a red Marksman. These guys are no problem with practice, once you get some suppressive fire down on places where they're ready to come out.
Mr. Suttner probably credit-fed his way through TC4 in the arcade and ended up with a shit score like 2.1 million, while running out of credits on the PS3 one. He probably can't link the combos, perform 1H2B kills, fill up the combo time bar (it resets if you continue), or get an accuracy of over 30%.
"Get your lost lives back between levels"? How about not losing them in the first place. Try being a little more watchful for those Crisis Sightings from white soldiers- though rare, they do happen. Kill the Field Commanders (black soldiers) ASAP too. They're as accurate as the red Marksmen, just a little slower.
He doesn't mention if there is or isn't Link Play in the PS3 one. OTOH, IGN's Jeff Haynes gave it an 8.0. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/836/836596p2.html
So they rate RE Umbrella Chronicles a 7.5 and Time Crisis 4 a 3.5?
I've played RE and its no 7.5 Yikes. I really wanted to play TC 4 but 1 review of 3.5 really scares me away. Sure it got a 8 from IGN, but a fucking 3.5? God damn.
Yeah, but read the review. By the end of the first paragraph the guy makes sure that you know that he's an idiot.
Yeah, I was really looking forward to this game too. $89.99 is a lot to shell out for a game that may end up being a 3.5...
I agree about RE: UC. I've been playing through that game over the weekend, and I have no clue why its getting consistently rated in the 7.5 range. Its no higher than a 6.0 IMO, and TC 4 should be able to easily beat that.
Maybe you guys should try reading the review instead of just looking at the scores. I've never played Time Crisis 4, but if that happens to float your boat, I'd think you would like the console port of it just fine.
If you like TC, you'll like TC4. You probably won't like it as much as TC2 and 3, but you know what you're getting so it's hard to be surprised or disappointed. I'm not as qualified to talk up TC4 as someone like gameoverdude, so I'll defer to his comments, but I will say that the 3.5 probably was due more to the laughable attempt at FPS levels moreso than the arcade port. I think lightgun games should top out at 8-8.5 anyway so a range of 6.5-8.5 is what I look for in a quality lightgun game, not too unlike a shooter in terms of review scores.
I'm eager to see how the FPS levels turn out (the videos don't look too bad IMO), but even if they suck- having an arcade better TC4 at home is enough for me.
During the Stage 1 Area 3 Multi screen battle, you can do a little milking. When the enemy group with riot shields first appears, try dinging the very tops of their shields to fatten your combo a little more. I've tried that on the arcade version, but I assume it'd work as well on PS3.
it comes with arcade perfect, and with enhanced extra levels as two seperate options, minigames (shoot the discus types), FPS mode (which i guess is the ??? and you need to beat single to get it)
the FPS mode videos i saw made it seem pretty lame, but who knows, ill get there soon enough.
I thought the textures were redone for PS3 so it looks better than arcade.
http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/action/t...;picks;title;5
Another bullshit review. Ryan Davis is a definite graphics ho, saying TC4 doesn't look like a PS3 game. So what? It looks better than what System Super 256 did with it. If this were done on the Wii, it'd have to settle for arcade-perfect graphics with no improvement. What is up with the reviewers giving no mention of graphical improvements over the arcade?
He says the arcade mode is short. The fastest clear time I've seen for TC4 arcade is 27m 48s, which isn't really a short game IMO. A whole hour for an arcade game is too damn long. It looks to me like he doesn't get that aim outside the screen to turn thing in the Multi-Screen Battles.
And what does Game Informer's Matt Miller have to say?
http://gameinformer.com/NR/exeres/FF...?CS_pid=270088
FCOL, Matt... learn proper weapon management. You sound like one of these casual players who just gad about, whoring out the machine gun & shotgun at times when I would be using the handgun to conserve the good stuff for later. My 5.8M score on this game is probably more than double what you managed. You probably do "Just hold down the trigger & keep firing" during the helicopter battle, rather than using some delayed fire to help keep a combo going longer.Quote:

i got farther in my playthrough today, my FIRST playthrough i had huge issues with weapon management, this third playthrough? I never ran out of any bullets. Wow at the reviews. If you like TC this is great, and you know exactly what youre getting into.
Namco, patch or driver, or something to get this to work on Ps2 versions PLZ.
Those reviews are BS. I'm not reading anything in the text that would justify giving the lightgun portion of the game such low scores. If they're going to put lightgun haters doing these reviews, then have the guys who hate sports games review Madden.
As far as the FPS portions go, they were probably designing those levels back when Red Steel was being designed. It'll take time. They didn't trash the first generation of 3D games for horrible controls and cameras.
Matt Miller apparently lacks the patience. These reviews shocked and angered me, except the one from IGN which pleasantly surprised me.
In Stage 2 Area 2, weapon management gets especially important. You really want to have 300 MG and 50 SG when you reach Stage 2 Area 3.
Good lord! Did those tards even play a Time Crisis game? In 3 I blew through all my ammo all the time because I knew the pistol still kicked ass. Also the guy bitching about the length? I thought maybe it was only like 15 mins long but you guys say it takes at least 30 mins? Its a lightgun game not a RPG! Sheesh! I havent even played it and I can tell those guys suck ass!
Evilmog and I had the #1 coop score in the arcade Time Crisis 2for a couple years. Nobody ever broke it, till the arcade closed :( I miss Time Crisis
