I have a Wii

I camped out at Best Buy to get a Wii on day one, which is something I did not do for the Xbox 360 and PS3.

After getting the Wii, I thought Wii Sports was a retardedly stupid demo but I played Zelda for about 50 hours and I felt the system was well worth my money because of that. However, after Zelda everything slowly started to decline....

Rayman was a really fun mini-game diversion for the couple hours that it lasted, and its certainly a better showing than that half assed Wario-Ware game on the Wii. I mean, Wario Ware is OK...but come on...Nintendo hasn't really evolved this series since its initial release on the GBA. Basically, I'm learning every day that just adding motion controls to a game does NOT make it revolutionary in any way.

Most of the other games that have been releases since then either: range from really horrible to mediocre (Red Steel, Excite Truck, Super Monkey Ball, SSX Blur), they are over priced "advanced DS ports" (Cooking Mama, Wario Ware, Trauma Center etc.), or they are the crappiest version of multi-platform releases with half-assed motion sensing controls thrown in (Far Cry, Splinter Cell, Madden etc.)

The only quality game I've bought for the system that was actually any fun ,after Rayman and Zelda, was Sonic Wii. That came out sometime in February, I beat it in about a week, and my Wii has been collecting dust since then. I also don't see any games on the horizon (besides Super Paper Mario) that are worth getting.....I'm sure that Prince of Persia port will suck ass too. So, even though I have been a big Nintendo fanboy my whole life, I still think the Wii hasn't lived up to its potential so far. Even the Gamecube had better 6 month launch window titles than the Wii....the Wii is actually looking N64 bad right now.

EDIT - By the way, my lack of satisfaction with the Wii is what caused me to go out and buy a PS3. Now that I have my controller issues resolved with the PS3, it has actually been a much better purchase than the Wii thus far. Virtua Fighter 5 is outstanding, and Resistance Fall of Man has crappy visuals but its a lot more fun than it has any right to be. Plus, I was able to buy The Departed, Happy Feet (watched this for the first time last night and thought it SUCKED. Its the best LOOKING movie I have seen on Blu-Ray so far though), The Prestige, and Casion Royale on Blu Ray...so I am more than satisfied with the PS3 :)

So a system with no games worth playing forced your hand in buying another system with no games worth playing?

The Wii is getting Fire Emblem, that should be good. And in 2009 when Metroid Prime 3 comes out, that should be good too. So there you go. 3 good games, and in only 2 years to boot!

The Wii had like two games worth playing, and the PS3 had about two games worth playing. I figured, why should I have only two games worth playing when I can buy another system and have four games worth playing. So, if there is a drought in Wii titles maybe the PS3 and 360 will pick up the slack...and if there is a drought in PS3 titles the Wii and 360 will hopefully pick up the slack.

Plus, I'm not really buying this "new gen" over "next gen" propaganda that Nintendo is shoving down our throats. Playing the Wii next to the 360 and PS3 is the final straw to make me realize that I DO CARE A HELL OF A LOT ABOUT GRAPHICS. When I buy a new system I want the games to blow me away visually. Seriously, the graphical power of Gears of War has drawn me into that game's world moreso than any motion controlling game I have played on the Wii so far.

other than that, the Wii doesnt exist to me.

Super Paper Mario got an 8.5 in Play. That's like a 4 in a real magazine. Also I sold my Wii to get a little bit more back than what I paid for it. I got very nervous how, despite all of the huge sales, third parties still weren't announcing games. Maybe a couple years down the line when it's $99...

Aside from God of War, nothing's been released for any console in a while. Just play Virtual Console and wait for Paper Mario next month.
