Yeah, I had never been down on Nintendo as much as many people are, but now I'm realizing that's because I never bought systems at or near launch and thus didn't have to wait for a reasonable library of games I want to play to build at a snail's pace. It happens to all consoles, but Nintendo historically seems to be the slowest snail in the race.
Wii serves as an excellent reminder of why my previous strategy of avoiding launches was the correct one.
I played Zelda last night.
I haven't played my Wii in at least 3 weeks. And last time I played Zelda for 15 min and turned it off. GO NINTENDO!
Great thread, would read again.
Sticky pls.
I'm disappointed in you.
Honestly, I don't play Wii anymore either. Sad...
Astroblue hates threads that are official and related to the devil.
I played a bit of VC (DKC and SMW) about 2-3 weeks ago, but other than that, I have no reason to play the Wii. Too many better games on 360 as well as still playing Gears online.

I wouldn't be surprised if this were true.
Nintendo has always undershipped to create artificial demand. Always.
Paper Mario is released in a week, and I still haven't even played Zelda.
That's right I'm going to say it right now and turn this thread into what we know it's going to be.
Ahem...
Xbox 360 FTW.
I hope someone makes a really good Wii game someday so I can turn the console back on and make fun of its inevitably horrible graphics when compared to the average 360 game.
At $99.00-$150.00 the console makes sense for what it is.
A gimmick mini game machine and or old ass game emulator...
I camped out at Best Buy to get a Wii on day one, which is something I did not do for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
After getting the Wii, I thought Wii Sports was a retardedly stupid demo but I played Zelda for about 50 hours and I felt the system was well worth my money because of that. However, after Zelda everything slowly started to decline....
Rayman was a really fun mini-game diversion for the couple hours that it lasted, and its certainly a better showing than that half assed Wario-Ware game on the Wii. I mean, Wario Ware is OK...but come on...Nintendo hasn't really evolved this series since its initial release on the GBA. Basically, I'm learning every day that just adding motion controls to a game does NOT make it revolutionary in any way.
Most of the other games that have been releases since then either: range from really horrible to mediocre (Red Steel, Excite Truck, Super Monkey Ball, SSX Blur), they are over priced "advanced DS ports" (Cooking Mama, Wario Ware, Trauma Center etc.), or they are the crappiest version of multi-platform releases with half-assed motion sensing controls thrown in (Far Cry, Splinter Cell, Madden etc.)
The only quality game I've bought for the system that was actually any fun ,after Rayman and Zelda, was Sonic Wii. That came out sometime in February, I beat it in about a week, and my Wii has been collecting dust since then. I also don't see any games on the horizon (besides Super Paper Mario) that are worth getting.....I'm sure that Prince of Persia port will suck ass too. So, even though I have been a big Nintendo fanboy my whole life, I still think the Wii hasn't lived up to its potential so far. Even the Gamecube had better 6 month launch window titles than the Wii....the Wii is actually looking N64 bad right now.
EDIT - By the way, my lack of satisfaction with the Wii is what caused me to go out and buy a PS3. Now that I have my controller issues resolved with the PS3, it has actually been a much better purchase than the Wii thus far. Virtua Fighter 5 is outstanding, and Resistance Fall of Man has crappy visuals but its a lot more fun than it has any right to be. Plus, I was able to buy The Departed, Happy Feet (watched this for the first time last night and thought it SUCKED. Its the best LOOKING movie I have seen on Blu-Ray so far though), The Prestige, and Casion Royale on Blu Ray...so I am more than satisfied with the PS3 :)
So a system with no games worth playing forced your hand in buying another system with no games worth playing?
The Wii is getting Fire Emblem, that should be good. And in 2009 when Metroid Prime 3 comes out, that should be good too. So there you go. 3 good games, and in only 2 years to boot!
hahah...I guess you can look at it in that light.
The Wii had like two games worth playing, and the PS3 had about two games worth playing. I figured, why should I have only two games worth playing when I can buy another system and have four games worth playing. So, if there is a drought in Wii titles maybe the PS3 and 360 will pick up the slack...and if there is a drought in PS3 titles the Wii and 360 will hopefully pick up the slack.
Plus, I'm not really buying this "new gen" over "next gen" propaganda that Nintendo is shoving down our throats. Playing the Wii next to the 360 and PS3 is the final straw to make me realize that I DO CARE A HELL OF A LOT ABOUT GRAPHICS. When I buy a new system I want the games to blow me away visually. Seriously, the graphical power of Gears of War has drawn me into that game's world moreso than any motion controlling game I have played on the Wii so far.
what is this sticky bullshit
Party pooper.
I'm going to pack my Wii up and shove it in the closet after i play:
-Super Paper Mario
-Mario Galaxy
-Metroid Prime Corruptions
-Resident Evil Chronicles
other than that, the Wii doesnt exist to me.
Super Paper Mario got an 8.5 in Play. That's like a 4 in a real magazine. Also I sold my Wii to get a little bit more back than what I paid for it. I got very nervous how, despite all of the huge sales, third parties still weren't announcing games. Maybe a couple years down the line when it's $99...
Aside from God of War, nothing's been released for any console in a while. Just play Virtual Console and wait for Paper Mario next month.
Motorstorm, Virtua Fighter 5, Major League Baseball 2k7, Crackdown, etc. Console releases are fine right now.
This thread makes me LOL. Fool me once, Nintendo, shame on you...fool me twice...you can't fool me again.
If you buy one, you're supporting terrorism
Oh, so this is where all the pussies are hanging out.
Oh yeah, Joust is a liar.
Wiinatics need to get the sand out of their vagina.
lol, this thread is turning out to be a winner. ::grabs some popcorn::
Nick is ballin'.No one likes kbuchanan, and even you just tried to distance yourself from him. Josh is well-liked and has a real sense of humor, so he can do what he wants. Perhaps Josh could teach you a thing or two about understanding TNL.
You're also forgetting that Josh has been banned from TNL more than everyone else combined, so stop with the hypocrite talk.Nintendo will go online sometime in the future.
I'm pretty sure that it was environmental interference from the Wii and Xbox 360. However, I also ended up changing the channel on my wireless bridge to channel 5 (because one message board suggested setting the channel to 4 or higher), I reset the controller, and I updated the firmware again. Apparently a certain combination of doing all these things fixed my controller, because it hasn't disconnected since then.
No one cares.
Andy is a niggerfaggot.
So Josh will jump when Andy says so now?
Your opinion doesn't matter. you live in Japan.
This is true.
It's that lady though, and i happen to think her gay ass flowery faggot writing is fabulous. It makes me want to smell good.
I flip through the magazine to look for her reviews/previews/whatever. I believe she tells the truth about things. I don't really know why that is, since i'm not even sure she likes games i've played.
And also the import guy, because Itadaki Street is more amazing than i could have guessed and i wouldn't have thought so otherwise.
Also Eric Patterson. His reviews are like tiny epics in which the reader finds him or herself lost.
I like that girl, too. I think she's maybe Play's best writer. I know I enjoy reading her reviews more than the rest. She's not impressed by the macho bullshit in so many Western games, and I can get behind that.
And since when did you get so into Itadaki Street? I thought you said it was merely "okay." I still need to open it...
Nick is rad. But I think it might've been that Dai Kohama or whatever who did the Itadaki Street review.
Speaking of Play magazine, I jokingly sent a one-line email to Dave Halverson, telling him to shut the fuck up about dynamic collision. The guy actually replied:
What a nobody.Quote:
