Wang didn't "develop" a slider, he's always had the slider. His K/9 is still only around 4.3 this year (because of a couple fluky big strikeout performances). Of 99 starters that have pitched as many innings as he has this year he's 90th in strikeouts. He's the same pitcher he was last year when he was the runner up for the Cy Young. You're pussying out of what you've been saying for years; hardly a nuanced argument.

Wang is a very good impersonation of a 2002 Derek Lowe.

His K/9 is 4.71 this year vs. 3.58 for his career. This is either a massive fucking improvement or, like you said, a fluke. Go back and check my posts and you will see that I have been saying HIS K/9 IS WAY TOO FUCKING LOW. A K/9 of 4 is widely considered to be the Mendoza line for strikeouts for pitchers. If he strikes that many guys out he can be an ace. If he goes back to the norm he will not.

If you take out last night's 10k fluke and his start against the mighty Pirates lineup his K/9 this year is 3.77. His last start was 7 innings 2 K's, before that a complete game with 4 k's, before that 6 innings 1 K, etc. He's the same guy. At 3.58 he was a 4th starter at best according to you, yet after one game bumps him up to 4.71 he's an ace? Have the courage to stand by your statements like the other Wang haters, don't punk out.
