He wasn't supposed to be a super prospect, but he's OPSing .816 right now and already has two grand slams and has hit for the cycle in 119 major leage ABs. Plus he can play centerfield.
Also, nothing can happen for the Giants this year. They are terrible. I thought the only good thing to come out of this season would be the firing of Sabean, but that's not happening either.
Texas doesn't have to pay anything if Arod opts out, the contract is finished. The Yankees would then have to pay the whole salary if they resign him, which is why they said if he opts out they are not going to bid for him. He has to sign an extension to the existing contract for Texas to keep paying.Quote:

As for the big market business: why couldn't A-Rod just go to Boston where he would be much closer to winning a title? Lowell and Schilling, who together account for around $22M this year, are FAs after this season, and headcase Manny's contract runs through 2008.
His postseason stats were very good before 2005. Labeling him a choker because of 9 games is fucking dumb.

13 games (he hasn't hit since game 3 of the 2004 ALCS) over three postseasons. Before this year he also put up awful regular season numbers with runners in scoring position. What's the sample size of his "very good" postseason numbers with the Mariners?Quote:
