Imus made the mistake of trying to make tasteless jokes while still having a conscience and trying to be a good guy about the situation, and look where it got him.

I don't generally find Imus funny or entertaining, but I'm not blind to the fact that his show is meant to make people laugh and entertain them, and I know many people do find him funny and entertaining. I'm not going to pretend to be blind to that because I don't personally enjoy him.
