I bought a bunch of guinea pig movies, and watched Mermaid in a Manhole and He Never Dies. Mermaid was pretty rad i guess, just really fucking wierd, and the gore was really good. He Never Dies is really light hearted and also has some really good gore effects.
I have Devils Experiment but i dunno if I can stomach it after watching the trailer. That pin through the eye is so fucking horrific omfg
Yeah, that's only the very end. Everything else is buildup to that one shot, and the rest is pretty much garbage. Not shocking, impressive, or entertaining in any way.Quote:

I want to thank Revoltor for this thread and everyone for the suggestions. It took two years, but I finally got in the mood to watch these, and I'm loving it.
First was Last House on the Left and NOES, then Cannibal Holocaust and Eaten Alive, then Emmanuelle Nero and Emmanuelle in America.
- LHOTL, and it's ancestor The Virgin Spring, I both really dug. They both show you people doing something horrible, then regret it. And the revenge build up in both are fullfilling. VS should have had an ignorant Sheriff mucking things up though.
- NOES is just great all around albeit not grindhouse.
- Cannibal Holocaust is fun because of the Blair Witch element, yet horrible because of the viciousness of the filmmakers. Were they suppose to impale the native girl after raping her, then act repulsed by it? I also think there was some Italian guilt going on with the way the filmmakers were portrayed treating natives -- much the same way early Europeans did when they first got here. Lots of blood & guts and they get what they deserve.
Mangiati vivi! - (Eaten Alive) is schlock that I hear was spliced together from scenes of other cannibal movies with minimal original footage. Nice poster though.
- The Emmanuelle movies are odd because it’s softcore porn under the guise of a reporter investigating rape, murder and other atrocities also girls jacking off horses. I really like the aesthetics of 70’s porn. If you do too, watch these. If not, stay away.
- And last, my crowing Jewel of 70’s trash films, that’s not mentioned anywhere in this thread, and arrived yesterday in the mail for $14.95 + SH -- Avere vent’anni.
Now it didn’t quite live up to the hype I made for it searching obsessively for an out-of print NTSC copy. But after sleeping on it, I like it and I think it’s a good movie for what it is – great music, some nice shots, and a definite 70’s time capsule.
It stars Gloria Guida and Lilli Carati -- two Miss Italy’s and established sex comedy kittens. This too is a sex comedy if you watch the American cut, which Eli Roth ignorantly did. The Italian cut is a sex tragedy., but it has a message that the girls’ previous movies did not. The basic plot is two girls look for free love in a gypsy-hippie commune in Rome and don’t find it. That’s all I’m saying.
The DVD I got may not be a bootleg, but the digital transfer is straight up ripped from a VHS of a well used print -- very grindhouse. The extras feature the 80 min American cut which is spliced all to hell and has none of the dialogue of the Italian movie. There’s also an interview with the Director which is cool for fans.
Even if you don’t like 70’s flicks, I’d suggest this film for TNL, it deserves the title “film” minus one out-of-place music video wth? and is very Singles Warpact.
Next on my netflix queue is Hills Have Eyes and the remake. Then Fight for Your Life and I Spit On Your Grave. After that, I go on a James Cagney kick and put the trash to rest for a while.
The Hills Have Eyes remake is the only modern remake that i think is actually better than the original.
This thread sort of marks my beginning to get into exploitation and is kinda funny to read now.
You guys should check out some Pinky Violence films. They are japanese exploitation movies which usually focus on female gangs or criminals, and are chock full of nudity and violence. DNG has a really awesome pink collection so he could better steer us towards awesome shit in the genre. Here's a scene from Sex and Fury starring Reiko Ike, a genre staple.

But my main genre kick these days would be gialli. For the uninformed, giallo films are hyper violent, super stylish Italian murder mysteries released from the late 60's through to the early 80's. They often have really complex plots, sometimes to the point of convolution. The best way to sum up the genre is the 3 B's - boobs, blood, and black gloves.
My favorite of these films, and indeed one of my favorite films, is Sergio Martino's awesomely titled Your Vice is a Locked Room and Only I Have The Key.

Unfortunately there aren't any trailers or clips on youtube that do the movie justice, and its been out of print for a while, so its hard to find. If you get the chance you should definitely pick it up. Its very different to your typical giallo and is focused strongly on a few really awesome characters. Its really well acted and shot, and the plot is really fucking good.
I have this one coming in the mail, its called What Have You Done to Solange? and it looks really awesome.
