So he's going to try and ruin other people's lives cause he hates steam?
lol what trash.
Credit card numbers aren't stored by Steam unless you run a gaming cafe. (and even then, I'm not sure)
He may have hacked something, but regular users aren't at risk.
How sure are you, ep? This is awful.
I haven't bought anything since HL2: EP1 the cc I have on there might be expired. I hope.
Some people are just plain scum. I got Half-Life 2 collection almost a year ago, so I know which card it is. I'm gonna keep a close look out, but hopefully nothing will come of it.

He didn't even post in this thread...
MONSTER

In fact, judging from their subscriber agreement, it seems that some accounts may actually have billing information stored on the Valve systems. Subscription type accounts, whatever they are.All I'm sure of is that I've had to enter credit card information for every Steam purchase I have ever made.Quote:
When you complete Steam's registration process, you create a Steam account ("Account"). Your Account may also include billing information you provide to us for the purchase of Subscriptions.
But yeah, I'll be watching my statement. Hell, I've had my card stolen once before, I'm a pro at this. =/

[Update 04/19/2007: Doug Lombardi, director of marketing at Valve, contacted DailyTech with the following statement:There has been no security breach of Steam. The alleged hacker gained access to a third-party site that Valve uses to manage the commercial partners in its Cyber Café program. This Cyber Café billing system is not connected to Steam. We are working with law enforcement agencies on this matter, and encourage anyone with more information to e-mail us at Catch_A_Thief@valvesoftware.com.
