It's the past 25 years, not all time, which explains some of those omissions.
quantum leap, firefly and v is good enough for me buy not space above and beyond?
there's no point in getting upset about lists like these, so just a few comments:
- Galaxy Quest is an awesome movie and is very underrated, they nailed the whole scifi show spoof thing.
- Heroes is too new to be on a list like this, but with that said I'm fine with the new battlestar galactica being on this list.
- Starship Troopers, come on, I actually really like this cheesy movie, but it does not belong on this list.
- Brazil is pretty, but overrated.
- I've never seen V, but the few clips I've seen from it make it look like crap, does it actually belong on this list?
- I always thought quantum leap was too preachy and boring for its own good.
- Star Wars: Clone Wars were better than all three of the new movies combined.
- According to links on the right of the page a new x-files movie is back in the works. I'll see that opening day.
Good call on Battlestar Galactica, it's an incredible show. Shame about the last half of season 3, though.
I used to watch V all the time when I was younger, it definitely deserves a spot on the list.
You know, I completely agree putting The Matrix #1. Put aside the shitty sequals and look at just the first movie, it definitely deserves it. It was the biggest thing since Star Wars before the sequals killed all momentum. And it wasn't the first, but it is probably the poster child for internet culture/ virtual reality based sci-fi.
I agree that it could be too soon for Heroes, but it's inclusion didn't seem nearly as out of place as Lost being so high up.
I would have liked to see some animation slipped in on the list somewhere. All the great Japanese anime sci-fi is not represented, nor is my darkhorse candidate Exo-Squad (I will fully admit that this may be a case of me not having seen an episode since high school). Oh, and Futurama doesn't count, because the show is not funny, nor relevant to sci-fi beyond the setting.
I don't think Eternal Sunshine belongs on the list, because sci-fi is its secondary genre. No rental place would ever put it in the sci-fi section.
Total Recall, Starship Troopers, where is my mother-fucking ROBOCOP!? Verhoeven should have just gotten his own entry (in the top 3).
