I've been watching more tournaments than actually playing the game. I'm so fucking slow after the 6 min build mark that it's embarrassing.
I'm waaaaaaaay out of practice.
Once upon a time I was silver, but that was a few seasons ago. Rockin' bronze league now.
I love Dota and League of Legends because I don't have to build a base or manage a million units.
I love Starcraft 2 because it is a total brain workout.
Is it? My impression of Starcraft 2 is mindlessly entering your build order as fast as you can.
Even the high level AI will murder you if you just did that. You need to know what your opponent is doing, and adjusting to them. You need to build, defend, and attack simultaneously. You need to position your armies, and properly move your different groups of troops, or they will be demolished, and you will lose.
Anthony said he didn't like starcraft because it takes too long to get going, but really the game is on from first scout, and as Zerg you can decide on an aggressive build even earlier. I don't see how the game isn't taut from minute 2 on.
Scouting is hugely important. You need to be able to see what's coming and know how to react to it. Sticking to one build order is a gamble. All ins are always a pain in the ass and a concern, but there are ways to fight them back (often won by micro control). If you can survive the first wave of an all in, it pretty much means you won because they have nothing left.
