I'm not even remotely ready to trust any source of wisdom I cannot question myself. In the law, if the judge or lawyer involved is still alive about half hte time they'll respond to an email. Authority must be questioned, the process examined and tweaked if it must be. Belief in gods cannot be reasoned or argued. But that's my usual line.
Mo7s, most people hear voices in their heads, tis called thinking, sometimes the thoughts aren't always what you willed, thats normal too. Thats called alot of things. But you're giving wayyyyy more value than anyone should. Because anything that comes out of a human is inherently flawed but can be improved upon, when you go labeling it "god" or religion, that's a protected status, and therefore dangerous because it cannot be improved upon, it is a stunted, static idea which never grows beyond its inception.
Face it god and religion are static and busted until they are cooped by some politician or scam artist comes along to update things with the times. See moses, jesus, Mohamed, Hubbard or a dozen other prophets or founders. All of them seized power and changed the religious ideals to change their worlds. They took the ideas of their day/people, tweaked them and were hailed as visionaries because it worked, and it worked because they saw a dead but trusted idea, adapted it in various ways and made it work again, for a while.
Today's problem with religion is the world is so well examined that its hard to believe in miracles and magic anymore. The only thing we can really get away with claiming is fortune telling and prophecy. Make a buncha vague loose claims and see how quickly people fall in line, there's magic in the world again and therefore their religion could actually exist.
That or faith healers, people get such a rush from a touch of the divine, they get a natural high and forget their pains for a while. The human mind is a powerful thing.
Too bad people trade using it for complaiceny and magical thinking. Or they're schizo, seek medical attention.
What happens when God tells you to kill someone? A child? A loved one of mine? Hell, ME!? You're going to follow it because you're a Christian, and consider God's word the ultimate motivation. That's something I don't want to have to worry about, so, I repeat: seek professional help. The quicker you're taking something to get rid of your loonytoons 'visions' and convos with God the quicker I mark one more thing off my 'shit to watch out for' list.Quote:
