Does anyone know how well MGS3 did? I don't remember it getting anywhere near the hype of 2. It kind of just, came out.
No one does really but fuck, PS3 is like SEGA Saturn all over again. Like SEGA used its last cash before leaving the consoles on a voodoo curse on Sony.
BTW, MGS hasn't been a huge deal since Kojima made MGS 2 all stupid and not half as gritty and cool as the 1st. Oh yeah the media has also not been on Kojima's sack like it used to be.
I was just spouting off the same shit certain others on this site have been saying for awhile now on how the PS3 was going OMFG dominate the world with MGS4 and FFXII. It was sarcasm.
Here's why a price drop won't help:
Microsoft is already two hundred dollars cheaper. To be merely even with Microsoft, who is itself having trouble selling systems at $400, they'd have to cut the price of the PS3 by $200. That's a remarkable amount of cash to cut off the price of their system and still be priced above what the mainstream is willing to pay for a video game console.
And then Microsoft can simply drop $100 and still be cheaper. For Sony to catch up with Microsoft's pricing, they'll have to slash the price of PS3 in half. F'in' hosed, Sony is.
Where'd I read that it depended heavily on the games division? I could've sworn I read that somewhere.
*Edit. It was a while ago, when the PS2 was really humming along.
Geez, how things have changed.
Sony doesn't have to make a price cut. Microsoft already told Sony it was okay to have a high-priced system when Microsoft released the Elite.
It doesn't surprise me that Sony's LCD televisions are the only thing keeping them afloat, since they're basically manufactured by Samsung, through a joint venture.
Totally OT, but this isn't really accurate. Gamepark tanked, but Gamepark Holdings, who make the GP2X, is still going strong. The GP2X is the real successor to the GP32, and it's already a better homebrew platform than the GP32(or PSP for that matter) could ever hope to be.
