Wakfu

Stumbled across this yesterday and really liked the graphical look of it. I'm not really a MMO person, but figured some of you might wanna check this out when beta opens.

Wakfu is a MMORPG by Ankama Games which made other MMO's called DOFUS and DOFUS: arena(not that great of a name imo). Wakfu supposedly takes place 1000 years later of DOFUS.

Some of the features of the game are
- Turn based tactical fight system (looks like FFT to me)
- 12 classes from the DOFUS universe
- Highly Customizable Characters (underwear, clothes, weapons, skin, hair...)
- 25,000 Players simultaneously connected per World.
- Challenges in a limited amount of time to involve the community in real time.
- Profession Guilds
- Persistent World with an Autonomous Ecosystem.
- Free play or subscription (with pay areas and sales of virtual items

Beta is said to start in July for the PC verison.

Also announced is a DS game which will be a stand alone Tactics RPG (FFT style)

DS game features

- turn based fights in 3D isometric sceneries
- The two Light and Darkness cartridges will offer a different series of dungeons!
- make your character and his equipment evolve
- multiplayer mode will allow up to 4 players to play local game through the DS WIFI.
- among the many items and equipment your character will be able to gather and equip on Wakfu DS, each cartridge will allow you to obtain some rare items that you will be able to transfer to your Wakfu MMORPG account. (too bad they are only for looks)

Has anyone played DOFUS or DOFUS arena? I might give the beta a try if I can resist the the cute graphics and sprite based animations. Anyone else interested in this?

Yeah, I don't like MMO's either, but I've had an eye on it all the same. It really does look very nice, and the concept of a MMO S-RPG is something different enough to keep an open mind about.

Watching the video and seeing combat like FFT also makes me wanna play this. Maybe we can get a group up to play in beta.

I'll be in on this beta, I've always wanted to try a FFT style game in multiplayer.

I'd be up for it, tho Dofus sucked:/

Graphically, it looks kinda like every other korean 2d mmo. I won't be diving on this one.

Dofus had some nice combat, but the rest of it was like every other Korean MMO ever. Being flash based didn't help either.

Korean MMOs are the 1000-monkeys in a room/w typewriters of MMOs, eventually something good will be produced. But mostly they throw shit at people.

Looks pretty good to me.
