Those of you who don't think this is real clearly don't have any insight into corporate America. When large layoffs happen, I can tell you that HR steers the management away from "higher risk" people, i.e. minorities and women, because they are afraid of lawsuits. It sickens me every time I hear it, but it is very much real. I was shocked when an Asian woman was laid off a while back until I realized that she was Canadian, where bullshit like Affirmative Action doesn't exist.
