Personally it's because they did shit like cut Ivy's move list in half, moved everything they took out to a different character, and then fucked with everything they left in by making a bunch of her normal moves now dependant on stances, and I think they also removed the quick method shifting between sword and whip. Then they added new stances in an attempt to make up for the first fuckup, except those were also useless so it was failure on top of failure.
Good intentions and all, but the game ended up where those lead. The character creation, however, was hilarious and well worth renting the game for. But why anyone would play SC3 over 2 is beyond me unless you absolutely, positively must have new characters to mess around with.
