Some inspiration/motivation for all of the leaky vaginas up in here:
On Saturday I run my first Spartan Race. It's a Super, so 8.5 miles with 20+ obstacles. Then two weeks later, I'll run my second Tough Mudder. I'm stoked right now.
2 hours and 21 minutes. Details to follow. Bring on Tough Mudder!
Here's a few notes from completing yesterday's Spartan Race.
I've done a Tough Mudder and a Spartan Race (Super) and I'll have to give Spartan the edge in difficulty. Even though Tough Mudder is more miles, Spartan Race penalizes you with thirty burpees for failing an obstacle. I was able to do all the Tough Mudder obstacles; I failed three in Spartan Race. Burpees suck balls.
Tons of hills to run up at this race. I was able to power through them thanks to my kettlebell swing training and some hill running.
There's a lot of hype behind minimalist shoes, but I must say, my New Balance Minimus Zero Trail shoes were awesome for this race. Along with merino wool socks, it was a comfortable run. It was worth going through the process of getting accustomed to the shoes during the month leading up to the race.
One of the worst obstacles was filling a bucket with sand and carrying that heavy bucket up, around, and down a hill. I was able to do it, but my back was not happy about that. Thank god my back is not killing me today.
Surprisingly, I feel fine today. I'm going to take it easy the next few days just to be safe, but I'll have to resume training at some point as I have my second Tough Mudder in two weeks.
Crazy motherfucker. :tu:
I've been trying to do chinups this past month and it's paying off. I couldn't do a full one on January, now I can do five sets of 4. Feels good. Now if only I could get my coordination back for jumping rope 20 minutes straight without it getting caught. And I refuse to get a longer rope. That's cheating.
You can do 6. I don't want to hear any bullshit.
