The Workout Thread
Small steps of progress, but here's what I've done so far:
* Cut down on the amount of fast food / eating out
* Cut soda down to 1/3 ~ 1/4 of what I was drinking before
* Using the exercise bike at least 2~3 times a week (averaging 125 ~ 150 calories burned)
* Trying to make some beginning changes in food choices where I saw changes I could make (like switching from white to whole wheat bread, buying and substituting dried fruit in for candy/sweets)
Have my next doctor's appointment on March 3rd - even if it's just a few pounds down, I'd love to see my weight go down between appointments instead of up.

Don't get hung up on the number, especially if you're exercising and building muscle. Muscle is denser than fat, so it's possible to make positive strides without it reflecting on the scale as much as you think it should.
If you want to obsess over a number have your doctor figure out your body fat percentage, but that might not even be necessary.

I'm at the doctor now, and for the first time since coming to this doctor (when I started hormones), I've gone down in weight since my last visit, not up. It's not much - only two pounds - but it makes me way more fired up about doing better and sticking to things and believing I can lose some of this weight.
Even though I know a lot of factors are at play, I was going to be totally crushed if I'd gone up in weight again. So, I'm crazy happy right now.

I am really fat right now but I will also do my best!

Peep post #4782, kid. Be careful focusing on weight.

No, I know, and I'm really trying not to. But, it's hard to get over that, and at least for today, seeing my number go lower really helped to encourage me to keep going. I think I just needed some small sign that I might be on the right course, because that's where I've always ended up falling off before (getting to a point where I felt like I was accomplishing nothing).

I lost a fuckload of weight when I quit soda and started taking my coffee black. It was so easy.

Don't stop drinking soda to lose weight. Stop drinking soda because you're and adult for God's sake. They should check for ID when you buy MNTNDEW and deny it to anyone over 23.
I still drink the occasional Mexican Coke/sugar Pepsi especially when my tummy hurts.

So I took my first Tai Chi class yesterday. It's no joke. I never took this style of kung fu lightly, but just "walking" down the room caught me by surprise. I burned every muscle in my legs and lower back and I've been doing Jow Ga for a while. The breathing aspect of it is also pretty rad. I slept like a rock last night. Highly recommend it for those looking for a soft, yet hard way to keep your body (and mind) in shape.
