Awesome! Now mail me my shit. ;)
...what? That sounds mega-painful. Describe the process.Quote:
Magic Eastern Medicine Man pulled the rib out and re-set it on Tuesday (let me tell you how much fun this was...)

Dude poked around on the front and back of my ribcage, then it felt like I got shot, then it hurt a lot for about 5 minutes, then some violent movements, then I got shot again and almost instantly all the pain went away and I could breathe again. Took about an hour.
I was focusing on something else the whole time because everything sucked, so I can't explain any better than that.
I'll send you your shit, I haven't been in Crofton in a long time. Ask Yellerdog about his joystick. lol.
Your chiropractor couldn't manage the same thing?
Anyhow. Finally. After like two months, I went back to the boathouse yesterday evening. It was a "light day" and I was glad. We did:
Suspended pikes: Picture gymnastics rings about a foot off the floor. Feet go in the rings, hands go on the floor, like a pushup position. Keeping a straight spine and straight legs, bending only at the hips, bring the feet to the hands. Five sets of one minute. FUCKING DIFFICULT.
Kettlebell snatches with lunge: In one swift motion bring 35lb kettlebell from the floor to overhead like the statue of liberty. Then with the kb overhead, bust a lunge. Swing it back down and switch hands without it touching the floor and repeat. Five sets of one minute.
Timed suspended planks: This time the hands are in the rings, feet are on a box of equal height. Bust a pushup position and hold that shit as long as possible. x4
Timed gi hangs: Throw a gi jacket over the pullup bar and hang. I prefer "judo grips" of left hand on the sleeve right hand on the collar. x4
Didn't feel like any light day to me but then I've been away. I love these workouts.
AHA!
I was like 9 minutes in to my run and felt like I needed to quit. I don't know why. I gutted out the remaining 21 minutes and now I know why. My throat is sore as hell and I feel like shit. Funny how you're sick for days before you even feel it.
I am very happy with the progress I've made training over this past year plus, not just physically, but I'm pacing myself better, and not going ape shit and gassing out. My flexibility and balance are probably the biggest improvements and I got stronger, not from a weightlighting perspective (actually got a bit weaker) but my striking, particularly my left roundhouse and my knee striking have seen the biggest leaps.
What I want to really focus more on is stretching and improving my flexibility, whether it's for kicking, BJJ, or just for more healthy blood flow. I really only stretch before and after training or weight lifting but I'm going to have to do more at home to get to the point I want to be (doing splits). I'm guessing an extra 30 minutes of stretching at the crib, maybe before I go to sleep, on a daily basis.
Some really good pushup exercises that I do close to everyday, usually after weight training or in the morning/before bed:
3 sets x 15-20 reps of clap pushups (do crunches in between each set)
3 sets x 15-20 reps of triangle pushups (do full situps in between each set)
3 sets x 15-20 reps of fist pushups (do mountain climbers in between)
I'll alternate in a set of 'fingers facing in' pushups, clock/counterclock wise pushups, wide pushups, high/low pushups (these kill) and different ab exercises in between on different days. I'm usually sweating like a whore on payday afterwards. Those explosve pushups (claps, high/low, clockwise) are great.
I went hill running/forest preserve running on Sunday and that was good stuff, too. It's fun to mix it up once in a while.
I'm up to 40 lbs. dumbbells. I haven't done this since boxing. I feel alive.
