Having worked the media myself, its hella easy to buy "news" time for advertising. Basicly the reporter will be asked to do a story then instructed by the editor to use this fact sheet only, then edit in plugs to whatever.

I'm ashamed to say I've seen it done first hand :cry:

I'm familiar with what you're talking about, but I don't see a product tie in here. Usually, you'll hear a headline about some miracle drug, or a medical breakthrough that's curing obesity.

The whole thing sounds too unreal, to be true. Having Fox news tied to it, doesn't make it seem all that credible either.
