Tenchu Z

With the demo now on the North American Marketplace... is anyone going to get the next Tenchu? I really like the demo, it's a lot of fun although it has a million controls to learn but there is nothing better than sneaking up on a guy and running him through.

Anyone going to get it?

I played the demo when it hit the Jap marketplace, and unless you played a completely different demo then I did, it's complete and utter asshole.

I'd play this if I got it for free but probably wouldn't bother beating it.

Why didn't you like it? I found the controls easy to grasp and the game was much cleaner and less buggy than any other Tenchu.

I still haven't figured out how to beat the boss, but other than that it's a lot of fun to roll off roofs and stealth kill some dudes

[edit] That's what I get for trying to update Steam and type a post at the same time. Thanks for somehow hijacking Firefox and breaking my internet connection instead of sitting in the background and updating like a good little program.

Anyway, as I was saying:
The combat is absolutely god-awful, it's maybe worthy of first-gen PS games. No advancements whatsoever have been made and the graphics are PS2 with some added draw distance. The only possible saving grace would be the online multiplayer, but there are better games out right now for me to play.

The controls are shitty. The stealth/combat is uninspired in comparison to stealth games these days. The enemy detection system/AI is absolute shit. And the graphics look like they are from last gen.

I can't believe that there's been no improvement in the series since the original game. The combat still sucks, the characters still have stiff, robotic animations and the guards are not only retarded, but lazy. They'll be 20 feet away while I'm gutting a civilian and kicking a dog but won't notice a thing, and even if they do notice me all I have to do is run away for, literally, 2 or 3 seconds and they'll stop chasing me and go back to to their patrols like nothing happened. There's no thrill in outsmarting stupid people.

And on top of that, it looks like a PS2 game.

I thought TNL liked Tenchu...

Oh well, I hear the final version is better than the demo and I like the demo so I guess I'm the only one. Although I like POTC3 on 360 too.
