Ah Shinobido, a title I've always wanted to play but never had the chance to get ahold of properly. :(
The demo was what you expect from a From Software rendition of Tenchu. A "next gen"(lol) rehash of the Tenchu series standards, but at least they decided to add a ton of tweaks here and there(granted, these should have been done years ago).
Besides the multiple new ways to kill, unarmed take downs, ability to look over the side of a building you're on, knocking out the victim instead of killing them, running/jumping off of walls, create-a-ninja, tweaks to the normal control scheme, bloom and a super cheap boss it's pretty much the same game we've played since day 1...but for some reason it feels like they finally took the control to where it should have been when Tenchu 3: Wrath of Heaven came out back on the PS2.
Granted, I'm sure the unlockable moves will liven up the dodgy combat system that was in the demo(not saying it will be any more responsive, but it will hopefully have a shitton more variety), and the addition of sound and visibility detection can add to the whole stealth aspect...but for 50-60 bucks I'll have to get this shit on discount/find a deal via cheapassgamer or whatnot before I bite the bullet.
Still, 50+ missions and 4p co-op over XBL sounds neat, regardless if this game isn't living up to the most remote expectations(the graphics are pretty shit, textures look so fucking last gen it's ridiculous)..
ps: The boss in the demo has a huge exploitable weakness. As soon as the cutscene ends, jump out of the boat onto the ramp and duck. The boss then loses track of you, runs around in a circle and jumps up onto the ramp your crouched on. As soon as you see him, toss out the uppercut or the 360 swing and he falls back in the boat. Wash, rinse, repeat(for a while, as this boss has an ungodly amount of health)

Between the lack of a double jump, ugly character models, and poor combat, no thank you.
-
Shinobido is Japan and Europe only, right?
-
Well I had a lot of fun with this demo and considering it's over a year old... the final game is supposed to be much more polished.
MrWhiteFolks, an easier way to beat the boss is immediately when the cutscene ends, throw your grenade and wham. The boss goes flying into the water - dead.
-
For me he always either dodges the grenade or immediately starts with an offensive, so the exploit(for my multiple playthroughs) has been the most reliable and safe alternative. It does seem weird that you can finish a boss by knocking them into the water, yet they have the full ability to vanish into feathers during a cinema(I figured other ninjas would have learned to swim, but then again this is From Software we're talking about).
-
Who stuck the n64 into my 360?
At least you can create a bull-dyke ninja.
-
I want to know what's up with the freakishly small heads on the female characters.
-
Yeah, thay all had horrible ugly faces and outfits. Also LOL @ the swimming "animation".

It's not specific to this game, but 3-D games that feature characters jumping straight up 6 feet out of water has always been a fascinating phenomena.
