As much as I want this to work I think it will just be laughable. It already looks like it his a super power presence from the trailer (Luke Cage?)
It reminds me of the Blade TV series, which was pretty decent, but got cancelled pretty quick.
I liked the Blade TV series a lot, and was pretty bummed that it got canned after the first season. However, Blade worked as a TV series despite being smaller in scope because it maintained the gritty, urban edge the movies had, which doesn't really take big bucks. If anything, the smaller-scale of a TV series actually improved Blade, as the last movie had gotten pretty over-the-top and stupid; the series just got Blade back to the basics.
Meanwhile, SHIELD is going from HUGE HOLY SHIT SUMMER BLOCKBUSTER with a giant fucking cloaking flying aircraft carrier and grandiose, cutting-edge tech to (I assume) a few cars with the SHIELD logo stenciled on the door and a couple of cheesy TV Superheroes of the Week like Luke Cage. Probably not the best of moves, and I think it will cheapen the Marvel brand overall. I guess we'll see.
