1. It takes much more energy to make ethanol than is contained in ethanol. It's still relying on fossil fuels to produce and ferment.
2. The energy content of ethanol is about 1/3rd less than gasoline, so you have to burn more of it. It's not helping the environment.

4. The cost of corn has already increased and mexicans are mad because it is a staple of their diet. Tortillas are costing more.
5. We have to grow a shitload of corn to support a nation of ethanol. I haven't read about this specifically but I don't believe we have the capacity to produce that much continuously and reliably.
