It's the same game it was before, it just has new controls. Get that through your head before you even attempt to play this.

The game looks like absolute shit right now. I'm not giving my assessment from two years ago when the game looked good. All I was saying is that today the game looks like shit and it's a shame Capcom, realizing this, chose not to upgrade the visuals to any degree, nevertheless similar to what one would find in a remake (i.e. REmake, Sigma). I clearly realize, however, that this is not a remake, rather a quick cash run justified in the form of "new" controls by fools with money burning a hole in their pockets. This doesn't change the fact that the game, a straight port of a Gamecube game today in June 2007, looks like shit.

How is this new news in any way?

Maybe Gooch is playing a different game then em, or maybe I'm delusional, but graphically the game holds up really well in comparison to 99% of the games released last gen. Besides some inconsistent texturing, there are some parts that really would looks beautiful if it weren't for the jaggies. Like fighting the 2 El Gigante's in the lava room, or the path with the castles in the background leading upto the underground sand type area.

I agree with Gooch. The game is ugly (low res and all). The PC screenies look alot better (especially with the mod). I guess I must have been spoiled with the 360 the past 2 months. RE4 is still a fun game though, I just have to get used to the new control.

Dude, I hope for your sake you threw your PS2 out... because if you're bitching this much about RE4, booting up pretty much anything on that system would probably drive you to claw out your eyes.

Exactly, it's obviously not going to look as good as anything this generation simply because of texture quality, but really besides that everything holds up really well. Art direction, lighting (only the GCN version), and all the animation are still really solid even for todays standards.

You can also get creative and map the triggers to two different axes so they don't cancel each other out. The XBCD software has 7 axes to play with, so you have more than enough for both analogue sticks and the two triggers.

These two control schemes are of course mutually exclusive. But the XBCD software lets you have unlimited different profiles saved, so switching between them isn't much of a hassle.

That's very cool. Now if only the XBCD drivers actually worked on my controller (not a stock 360 controller, but made to the same standard). EDIT: Apparently they do work with a modified inf. Yay.

So, with that said, would you recommend I go with the logitech or 360 controller?

Either way. The XBCD drivers seem to make you keep the config panel open if you want to switch profiles on the fly (with the guide button), which is annoying, and the logitech one lets you switch to the d-pad whenever you want. The logitech one is like $10 cheaper, too (regular $30, wireless $40).

The 360's d-pad is kinda awful, so if that matters, I'd look elsewhere. The Logitech Chillstream is a really sexy pad 360-style pad if you like that feel, with a fantastic d-pad but no rumble is a bummer. Rumblepad's d-pad is very good, too. Similar to the Genesis 6-button pad.

I was all excited to try the XBCD only to find they don't work with the wireless adapter. =/
