Okay, I realize that not everyone does this, but why do some feel compelled to title their threads in the most cryptic way possible? If there's a thread about a game, can the title just state that? Some folks may not want to read every single thread at such a busy message board and all the "cleverness" displayed in naming some of these threads only makes it more difficult to find the stuff that may be relevant.

But I will say this:
Cleverness is one thing, crypticness or "teaser" titles are another.
I can deal with "Miyamoto's new masterpiece" or "Link's new adventure" and not having Zelda or Mario in the title.
I CAN'T deal with "Guess what I'm thinking of" or "This game is underrated..." or "Lets talk about..." Just put the topic in the POST SUBJECT line, thats what its there for.

Sweet! I thought you were calling me stupid and to be honest I wouldn't have a problem with that. I know that lots of people disagree with my "logic" in a general sense(not just relating to this subject) and I'm pretty used to it.
I hope noone thinks that trolling is the ambition behind this thread. I love TNL but I seriously have not the time to read everything here. Concise thread subjects would certainly aid me in finding my meat and potatoes, and I'm sure there are others besides Stormy and Master who agree.

I would also like to mention my own pet peeve: DON'T use acronyms when referring to game titles in your subject line. Many popular games share acronyms, and some of them are too obscure for me (and many others) to recognize in just a few letters.
So please, for the love of Mike, just say no to acronyms.
You can add me to that list of people that agree with you Pacrappa. I'd prefer having an idea of whats going on in a topic before clicking on it.

I usually don't bother reading topics if the subject doesn't tell me or at least give me an idea of what is going on...
Example: I hate "Guess what"'s and the like.
And don't forget I started "Let's talk about" and others have simply abused it! Sorry, it's the only significant (?) thing I've contributed...

Well even with a accurate title it doesn't mean that it's about what you think it is someone could title a thread "Virtual On" but it would be about where to buy the game.
As for clever thread titles your header was a little misleading cause it has nothing to do with games but I clicked on it anyway. How bout "state your subject in your thread?"

And while we're bitching- can we try not to have 40 topics on the same game? And how about not talking about Sin and Punishment ever again? I like it, you like it, we've played it. We've talked about it. Just an example, mind you.

I hate it when people use acronyms as well. I remeber a thread titled "SMB Is freaking great!" I am thinking, oh Super Mario Bros., nope its Super Monkey Ball. Thats why the three threads I have started here are straight to the point. If I am talking about a game I titles it (ex.) Ninja Kid, and what system its for, Ninja Kid (NES). Thats that. The thing I hate the most is this "!!!!!!!!11111111" Ok, we know those 1s are supposed to be !s, but you did not proofread and now you look dumb. If your going to use an un-needed amount of ! just make sure you do it right.
um, not to be an ass, but you should proof-read your posts as well. it's "if YOU'RE (not your) going to use..." a lot of people on this forum always use the wrong "your/you're."Quote:
