Something doesn't sit right with me about the idea of going to bed with a chick who probably wouldn't be down for it if she had her wits about her. Legal or not, it just seems wrong to me on a few levels.

And there's really no reason to. Getting laid is easy enough for anyone who isn't deformed, obese, or just a herb of the highest order, and it'll probably be a lot more fun than with someone who is so hammered she can barely stay lucid.

Not to mention that as soon as you walk out the door with someone who is noticeably beyond the point of good judgement, unless you are stumbling and slurring every bit as badly yourself, you just got marked by everyone there who had their eye on you that night.

Well yeah, but generally those situations happen when both the parties are intoxicated.

Also, Fun Fact: A big part of why people drink in the first place is to loosen up the inhibitions.

I disagree. Women can abort. In fact, women can reverse just about any tangible consequences of sex that aren't HIV, HPV or herpes. If they don't want to, then they don't want to, but they don't have a choice. Men have no recourse in this situation. Even if they were drunk and the woman sober.

It flies right in the face of equal protection.

As for the rape shield law, I say too bad. Whether a chick is a slut in general has plenty of bearing on whether she consented to any specific encounter.

Rape is a really complicated crime anyway (unless it's of the hooded-man-jumps-a-jogger-in-the-park variety). There's a very fine line between rape and consentual sex which doesn't exist with other violent crimes.

There's a reason these laws survive the "strict scrutiny standard" that would normally strike it down under equal protection. Women cannot abort in all places (Midwest, ect) even places where its technically legal, some states don't have any clinics at all like South Dakota, and neither the procedure nor travel is covered by insurance which most people who need it for this sorta thing (16-30, poor-working/middle income). Plus there's the whole society thing with abortions.

Also abortions can affect your reproductive ability, would you risk your balls to get rid of a potential kid? Flies in the face indeed, woman still has to have the money or insurance coverage to get the abortion, assuming she's bright enough to suspect she maybe preg before next 2-3 months. Couple that with how fucking dumb women are about their own reproductive abilities stupid shit happens. It doesn't bother me that people suffer for ignorance but men disproportionately can avoid any consequences by avoiding any contact with the woman or calling themselves Anthony Burgundy.

But how do you feel about men getting roped into eighteen years of financial responsibility for a kid that isn't theirs in a relationship they may not want just because they happened to be the boyfriend when the kid got shat out?

That shit happens all the time and almost destroyed the life of one guy I knew. Thankfully, she really was a slut so had plenty of people (including her parents for constantly unloading the kid onto them so she could go out and party) against her, couldn't find a supporting character witness for herself to save her life, and ended up missing a court date which led to the judge finally ruling in favor of my friend and dismissing him as the father. Even with all that they were still leaning towards her side, the only thing that got him out of it (and the kid into a better home) was her missing court. That's just sad.

Are you seriously debating a law where a woman, sober, could have sex with me while i was extremely intoxicated, pop out a kid, pick up child support for 18 years. And throughout this I would have no way of claiming rape on the same grounds she could claim rape for a comparatively trivial reason?

Oh and yes, i would permantly damage my reproductive organs to avoid having a kid at 22, and take a loan if i had to. And drive to another state. Hell I would pay for her abortion.
