I'm not advocating the death penalty for most crimes. I favor bigger fines and tougher longer prison terms for most crimes, with the death penalty reserved for murders and especially heinous cases of rape/torture. You don't have to kill someone to ruin their lives forever, and at that point what's the difference anyway?

The Soviet Union had an extremely low crime rate to, you know why? Because they either executed you or sent you off to Siberia to do hard labor for the rest of your life. So yeah, you can cut crime down a lot by becoming an oppressive police state. Good thing this is the United motherfucking (no pun intended) States of America. You don't like the Bill of Rights, Spo?
