yes, that article does tend to leave out the impact that the mind has on sexuality. We all find most of the basic concepts sexy, but we each define most of those concepts differently, and we rank them differently.

Take your interest in dark hair for example. If you take what the article says as true, you might assume that people think that people with dark hair are older, and thus more mature. Maybe you like dark hair because you rank said maturity as being more important than genetics because from your point of view, making a baby is not enough. The baby needs parent(s) that are mature and smart enough to keep it alive.

They use the word Muslim in a really awkward way.

Also, you guys ever notice how if someone says the phrase "politically incorrect", people who describe themselves as conservative usually get all excited? It's like they try to go out of their way to appear PI.
