Solid movie. Good action, so-so story.
I liked the nod to Goldfinger.
Also, did anyone else feel like they had no idea what was going on with the story for the first 45 minutes of the movie? And even by the end, I still felt like I didn't have a strong grasp on the story. I don't know if that's because the movie had crappy storytelling, or it's been a year since I last saw Casino Royale.
Eh, I thought the story was kinda all over the place too.
I warmed up to this one by the end of it, but at the beginning it definitely felt more like the British Jason Bourne than anything. He's still not Bond, but I liked it.
just got back from seeing this. i enjoyed it. i thought the action was really cool and i like daniel craig's performance. while it didn't have any one-liners, i thought the movie had some humorous moments. i particularly like m's rant at the beginning about mr. white's statement that "we have people everywhere."
i re-watched Casino Royale last night, and i'm glad i did. i had forgotten a lot more of it than i realized (damn that movie's long). since Quantum of Solace starts where CR left off, it helped a lot have a fresh memory of everything that happened. i'm sure i would've been confused through much of the movie otherwise.
at the end of Quantum, i didn't really feel like everything had been resolved. the movie started out with bond going after mr. white, but then mr. white gets away and we never hear anything more about him. the plot goes in a different direction and when it finally starts to circle back around, we don't get to see bond interrogate greene or vesper's 'boyfriend.' it leaves the story feeling unfinished, but i guess all that leads into the next movie.
I was supposed to see this movie tonight but my friend's girlfriend is the biggest flake on earth.
The movie felt unfinished IMO. Disappointing.
I need to see this movie, but I really see absolutely no chance of me liking it. I still don't see Daniel Craig as Bond. And would I be wrong in saying this move can't stand up on it's own and needs Casino Royal? I'm a firm believer that every Bond movie should stand up on it's own merits. Meh, I guess my thoughts would be moot, as I'm all for 60's Bond or GTFO.
