this is an actual debate in feminism, that trying to base equality from a trusting women argument is inherently flawed because some women will always make bad choices. The alternative is to base it on a respect women argument where women are free to make bad choices, just like men. See sex workers, drug addiction, abortion, contraceptive use ect...

I saw that on IFC, it felt rather sad for everyone involved. But you cannot stop people from being stupid. Otherwise we'd have massive prison populations or executions based on exam scores.
