lol, I could really see that.
i thought all 3 X-Men movies were campy, childish trash that only very briefly skimmed the characters personalities. the only thing that saved those movies was KEY casting in Jackman and Stewart.
Superman Returns had the makings of a great film but the overly long ending sequence (from when they built the island to the end) ruined it for me. i thought showing a very human side of Supeman was a great try. Routh did well with what he had to work with. i don't care if he doesn't have the thighs to squat a tank like most of you were originally complaining about (fags), but he had the look that the jeriatric Reeves you all cling onto never had.
I've been going back and re-reading a lot of the "classic" X-Men stories lately, and they are much, much more interesting than the films. Character is very central, and that really fell apart in the movies. (There's a TON of shitty melodrama in the comics too, but that's par for the course)
All I want, and this will improve the flick tenfold for me, is that whowever plays Supes drops the Reeve impression. Make the character your own.
Did you see Superman Returns?
Oh right, so you're just talking shit then, gotcha.
The dude in Superman Returns was pretty much exclusively doing a riff on Reeve's Superman performance. Every beat is from the old movies.
You know what would make a good Superman film? A movie adaptation of Grant Morrison's All-Star Superman.
