So from what I've read in reviews, VF5 doesn't have lobbies, and even if you invite a friend to a match, it drops you out of the pairing after 1 match? Meaning you would have to start a room and invite your friend every single time?

Not exactly. You can rematch a friend, BUT you must use the same characters. If you want to switch characters, you have to quit the session, pick your new character, and invite your friend again. Why did Sega do this? 1) Profiles are tied to characters, so the game needs to be aware which profile you are using before you start fighting. And 2) Sega is run by a bunch of fucking morons.
Having to quit to play against a buddy with a different character is very stupid on Sega's part. Oddly enough, the online matchmaking in VF5 and Naruto: Rise of the Ninja are pretty similar in the way that both games make you pick a character before finding an opponent online. Main difference is that you can choose to switch characters on the rematch screen in Naruto before you rematch. Sega needs to patch the online to at least be able to do that much.
I can play you in that if you tell me when and I'm not doing anything. I just hope the connection wasn't as flaky as the last time I played you (if I remember that right, could have been another person).
It was fine at first, then it degenerated into nothing. I'll shoot you a message next time I see you online. That is, when I actually have the 360 on instead of the Neo.
Cool. Best time to play Fatal Fury Special if you want to play random matches from what I've seen is at noonish when you see the Japanese and Europeans play. This was pre-VF5, so I'm sure some people moved on to that since that came out.
I'm getting on now if anyone wants some easy wins.
Good games tonight, Contra. Got my ass kicked! I have much to learn.
I got VF5 so add me Mikhal. I played some matches against Destro 777 last ngiht and the lag wasn't too bad. It definitely has its hiccups though. I have had some really bad lag with some people though. Also, I've had a shiload of droppers in ranked matches too. Why can't these devs punish the droppers with a loss? Is it that hard? I'm not worried about my rank and I'm sure I'll be less than .500 when its all done, but I digress, If I win, I want that damn win !! :)
