Official Ron Paul for President 2008 Thread

I am usually apathetic (at best) about presidential candidates, but this guy really strikes a chord with me.

At the very least, you have to admire a candidate whose voting record fall firmly in-line with his political ideals, and who isn't out there trying to codify his own moral code upon the rest of the country (and world).

If the election was today, I'd vote for him. Shame that so many people have no clue who he is and what he stands for. I think the general public would like a lot of what he has to say if the major media outlets would just give him some fair coverage.

Sucks that most people just vote for the guy they'd most want to have a beer with.

That is Ron Paul for me.

Barrack seems like he'd a good guy to drink with.

I'd prefer a libertarian to the parade of fascists that comprise the top tier of the current GOP. Also, I've yet to see these so-called 'young liberals' flocking to Ron Paul. Rather, I see otherwise apathetic web-savy youths wooed by a contrarian politician.

I'd prefer the states to handle the abortion issue than the federal government. God knows they want to. Pretending we're all a country of like-minded people is pretty silly.

Or, even better, how about leave the issue in the hands of individuals with their doctors? I really don't see how people can make the 'rights' argument with the abortion issue and not take it to its logical conclusion. If it's not the federal government's business, then it's not the state government's business either.

He doesn't agree with banning it because he doesn't want the government to even address it. He wants to pretend it's simply a religious issue and let churches decide who they want to marry. He's ignoring the legal protections of marriage that have nothing to do with religion.
