Wrong. I used to live in Seaside and Toms River and I can tell you from first hand experience that nothing will stop people from NYC and North Jersey from coming down and fucking things up.

Try one of the quieter beaches less prone to the weekend warriors. Avon maybe. Long Branch is nice, too. You get the beach without the litter and crime.

Jersey Shore was nice. Didn't spend too much time there, but it's definitely a group spot.

Avon is probably my favorite beach on the shore next to Belmar. Belmar is a beautiful beach, but it's also the #1 spot for the asshole NY types, so if you're going on a weekend, avoid it at all costs.
