Not being hired for jobs isn't enough for you?

LOL, yeah, this ivory tower is inpenetrable. All debts come to pass. Just as you wouldn't hold onto a stock that constantly loses value, the countries that are buying all this debt from us aren't going to sit on a losing proposition ad infinitum. That either means them cutting and running which would mean extreme, nigh-cataclysmic devaluation of the dollar, or the US basically becoming a lapdog to appease the holders from doing the former.
May not come to pass anytime soon, but leaving it unchecked and ever-worsening ensures it can and will happen.
Well, I think the way it works here in Canada is that hospitals/doctors' offices are privately run but the government covers the cost for the patient. Some countries have a fully socialized system where doctors are government employees.
Anyway, universal healthcare is the only ethical way to go as far as I'm concerned. I live under it. It works. I would probably be screwed with debt without it given my chronic health problems. Having a US-like dental system here is annoying enough.
Just because you can't afford medical costs, that doesn't make you a "burden on society" but I agree with Yoshi on smokers and the like. If someone gives himself lung cancer, then I don't think they should be covered for treating that. Still, because of grey area and I assume avoiding court bullshit, the government here doesn't take into consideration stuff like that.
Yoshi's just against fun.
Also, I don't want any of my money going to cops. They can DIAF as far as I'm concerned.
While most cops are assholes, they're a necessary part of society. I won't want to eliminate the police because of the few clashes I've had with them.
This is probably his greatest achievement -- beyond that of ushering in the age of fair immigration, ending Bin Laden's Al Qaeda, and liberating the Iraqi people --- with everything he's led, Arbusto, Spectrum, Harken, The Rangers*, The State of Texas, and the US, he’s managed to leave them all in the red.
*Ok The Rangers still made a profit, but they didn’t win any pennants.
No, he's just never found himself in a position where he couldn't pay for his own health care. Should that ever happen, you'll hear him change his tune right quick. ;)
Shit, even PR has universal health care, and we're twice as poor as Mississippi. I had for a few years, while I was part-timing at the university, and let me tell you that without it, I'd be up to my eyeballs in debt. My daughter was hospitalized for nine days when she was 2 months old, and that would have cost me at least $7 grand had I not had the universal health coverage.
Maybe those who argue against this should try paying cash the next time they're hospitalized, so they can see what those who can't afford a private plan have to put up with every time a medical emergency comes up.
Contrary to what you might believe, there are plenty of working class people in the U.S. who can't afford health coverage. Like I said, try paying cash the next time you're at the emergency room. You have no idea what you're talking about unless you've been there, dude.Quote:
