A lot of things won't have been affected by the destruction of Vulcan. The Borg, Klingons, V'Ger (bleh), that thing that wants to talk to whales is still going to show up. These things will happen in this timeline. But there's no guarantee that Picard will even be born after the events of this movie. I mean, Khan is still floating around in space in this universe, but what are the odds of this new kirk stumbling on him in the same way? It's some serious butterfly effect type shit.

I just came back from this. Very good reboot, I suppose. The next movie better have a better story now that the characters are all explained a little bit better. Leonard "Bones" McKoy was played amazingly. All of the characters were done really well. The subtle nods to the old series' were stellar. Red Shirt parachuter dying was rad. Also easily spotted by people in the know.

Spock + Uhura was weird. As was Spock showing so much emotion, even for jokes But I had a good time. Making the fights, explosions and phasers more visceral and hard-hitting was a good decision. Sometimes the firefights in Star Trek put me to sleep.

I liked it alot.

What were all of the behind the scenes Star Trek references? I only caught a few of them but I'd like to know more of them.

After sleeping on it this movie was really good. I am glad it turned out new, while still probably being able to continue the timeline with TNG and so on.
