Sylar is Spock.
More to come out of SDCC.
This whole trend on remakes has gotten too out of hand to be of interest anymore.
If the guy behind Lost taking over Star Trek isn't of interest to you, you need to change your avatar.
You're the one who said this series was getting a reboot.
And the av fits the mood perfectly incase you can't figure it out.

Love Star Trek
Never seen one single solitary minute of either Lost or Heroes.
Until i see more im on the fence bout this one.

There was no reason to stop making Next Generation movies. The problem was that Paramount was incapable of making a good one after First Contact; why should we have faith that the original characters with new actors will be better? With good writing Trek never would have gone in the tank in the first place. Most people loved the TNG characters.
Rumor on who's playing Kirk.
dunno about this one.
Add a little makeup, lay off the booze and drugs.... yeah he could do it.
Maybe.
He's no Shatner, though.
He'd need to learn how to overact like a mofo.
And ... to ... take five second ... pauses be....tween ............................... words.
There will be no talking shit about Shatner on my watch you motherfuckers.
i like shatner foo.
You fucking better.
Boston Legal, he plays a bumbling closet homo. Fall from grace imo.
I miss the earth so much........ I miss my wife
It's lonely out..... in space
On such a...... timeless......... flight.
You guys aren't even doing it right.... because the reason why Shatner had... his way with words ... that seemed so strange... was because... he had to pause to remember his lines. :P
I .... just hope. This new guy .... can act. They ....also need to ...cast. Sulu.
The guy from Heroes IMO. (Not Hiro, his buddy.)
New news ... if you don't want to know ... don't click.

Why is Abrams messing with gay Star Trek? He should only be working on his own visions.
Free Enterprise is brilliant by the way. Even mild Shatner fans need to see it.
There is a part of me that just wants to let Star Trek die, but there's another part that would love to see the series continue, but with good stories and likable characters.
I'm hoping this movie turns out to be good. That doesn't mean that my expectations are very high though.
Oh hell, that rumor about establishing a second timeline turned out true?! I didn't even bother posting it because I thought surely they had more sense than that...
Star Trek sucks.
They leave TNG storyline pretty wide open after Nemesis and now they are 'rebooting' the series...
No Data, no watch.
What the fuck is with this young casting? Last time I checked Star Trek wasn't set in junior high or set to a soft rock/new age emo pop soundtrack. I like Sylar, but I really hope they don't cast that young piece of shit as Kirk.
In fact, I don't think anybody besides Shatner can play Kirk unless they change the tone of the franchise altogether.
Weird casting choices.May be hard to take this movie seriously and not chuckle whenever they give their lines:
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/start...s.php?id=38287
Basically,
Eric Bana is good stuff.Too bad he's only a throw away villian. That black chick playing Uhura? wow. hot.Quote:
John Cho (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle) has been cast as Sulu, the Enterprise's helmsman, while Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) has signed on to play Scotty, the ship's Scottish chief engineer, in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek feature for Paramount.
Already on board are Eric Bana as the villain, Nero, Zoe Saldana as Uhura and Anton Yelchin as a young Chekov, the Russian-born navigator,
Simon Pegg?! That is fucking odd
That's weird shit, but get ready for the most bizarre casting choice…Kirk is finally revealed.
You're not gonna like it.
Quote:
Kirk is 'Cumming'
Today, Scottish film and stage actor Alan Cumming was revealed as the successor to the iconic role of Captain James T. Kirk in J.J. Abram's much-hyped reboot of the beloved Star Trek franchise. Details are still sketchy, but it appears that the deal has been finalized. This joins a rash of off-kilter casting announcements such as the Asian kid from the Harold and Kumar movies as Sulu and the fat guy from Shaun of the Dead as Scotty. Cumming most recently received attention for his role as the wall-crawling mutant Nightcrawler in X2: X-Men United.
What a throwaway movie.
Set a course for disaster! Warp 9!
It's going to take a lot of convincing for me to see this.
It's Star Trek. It was crap long before any casting choices were made.
I think I'm going to enjoy Sylar as Spock. That Shaun of the Dead guy as Scotty is a good choice IMO. The rest are WTF. But it's a rebirth so I suppose that's kind of the point.
So instead of banging three-breasted green chicks, Kirk's gonna be trying to jump Bones' bones?
Call me crazy, but I like the casting so far ... except Cummings as Kirk. WTF?
Is this going to be a parody movie? Because from the casting, that seems where it's going.
So who haven't they poorly cast yet? Bones and that was going to someone just as ridiculous but I can't remember who.
WTF is going on?

Nurse Chapel casting announcement
More casting news is filtering in regarding J.J. Abram's Star Trek reboot. To date his casting choices have been…strange and unexpected to say the least, but this newest announcement fill us with equal parts of bewilderment and anticipation. Former porn queen Jenna Jameson has been cast in her first mainstream film role as Nurse Chapel. Played by Gene Roddenberry's wife Majel Barrett in the original series, Nurse Chapel was Dr. McCoy's loyal assistant. Needless to say, the on-going saga of Star Trek reboot casting has us scratching our heads.
Rumored (but unconfirmed) is a cameo by Jameson's boyfriend, UFC fighter Tito Ortiz.
Okay, I'm beginning to think Lost was a fluke (or at least that Abrams has very little influence over it) and this guy really is as batshit insane as we all thought he was back when his Superman script leaked.
Whoa. This is a big joke for sure. I am convinced - the movie doesn't exist and will not exist.

Even more casting news- the role of Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy has been handed over to none other than...Billy Bob Thornton! At first, this is an interesting choice, except when you take into account the fact that this film is supposed to chronicle the earliest adventures of the Star Trek crew- at 52, Billy's far too old. But we've been assured that Thornton will be de-aged via the same digital technique used so effectively on Patrick Stweart and Ian McKellen by Director Brett Ratner in X-Men: The Last Stand, so we'll have to see how it all ends up.
It's officially a joke. No one will be fooled anymore after that whopper.
The sad part is. Simon Pegg and Billy Bob would be pretty awesome as Scotty and Mccoy.
The Simon Pegg part is actually true.
No matter how many fake movie news stories I post, you people keep falling for them. I mean, who else would believe Alan fucking Cumming as Kirk?
Pegg is real. Cho is rumored as Sulu, but not confirmed. Alan Cumming, Jenna Jameson, Tito Ortiz, and Billy Bob Thornton are very, very fake.
I was gonna say if Tito ever does get cast, I hope he's the guy in a red shirt.

No longer rumors ... BTW. The only rumor left is Bones. Cho is confirmed. And Chris Pine like the article says is confirmed.
That looks infinitely more reasonable.
Sadly for Bones, there is no cure for adult acne in the 23rd century.
That's still not who I heard Bones was going to be. This is driving me nuts, I can't find where I read that.
I really think the only one who would totally fit the role would be Quinto.
OMG! Rob Zombie announced as Bones!!
Real pic from the set:

OH MY GOD I BELIEVE IT BECAUSE DOLE POSTED IT ON THE INTERNET
A sucker is born every minute.
Also: that cast works for me... as long as they can act. I hate actors (Denise whats her name from Starship Troopers) that can't act.
Except for Arnold. He's untouchable.
Arnold Schwarzenegger should play Kirk.
Eomer as McCoy confirmed.
like many other trek fans, I'm sure, I think this movie is just one bad decision after another and shouldn't even have been made in the first place
at the rate that cast is racking up, the movie will literally be the star trek version of this.
Abrams apparently wants Josh Lucas for Captain Pike.
leave captain pike alone, he's just fine as a wandering retard in a beeping wheelchair
lol.
Yeah, they really couldn't do any better for Pike in the 24th century than "one beep for yes, two beeps for no"...?
F this movie. After Nemesis, Paramount should've said no more. I'm a huge Star Trek fan, and I like TOS, but I would've rather seen another movie about the Borg than a stupid TOS prequel with no original cast members. This movie will be worse than Nemesis. (However, Nemesis was good - I only say that because I believe it was the worst of all the movies.) Maybe Paramount could redeem itself with a new series (NOT Enterprise) so Gene Roddenberry can roll back over in his grave and rest in peace.
They should just call it "Let's Ruin Daddy's Dream: The Movie".
Nemesis was awesome.
People liked Voyager?
Just this guy and no one else.
Oh come on... thats not fair and you know it... a LOT of movies follow the same basic formula.
Wrath of Khan is a better movie, I'll give you that.
You're right, alot of movies do follow the same formula. But when they are in the same series of movies, it has to be called out. Especially when they were so cynical about it and gave themselves an even bigger out (Romulan Data + Experimental Backup of Data's brain = Hey, who cares if Data blows himself up saving the ship, we'll use the spare. Totally ruins the whole Data is sentient and special argument the series had going) than the first time around ("Remember")
It was a total cop out, no arguments there.
But the "real Data's" exit was fucking awesome. I edited my rip of the movie to end there. :)
also: edited my copy of 300 to end when the arrows flew in and the screen faded to black...
Movies are so much more exciting when you have video editing software.
I loved Undiscovered Country. It was an awesome send off for Kirk and the Invincibles. Sulu finally got a ship, Kirk fought himself, got it on with a shapeshifter, McCoy finally expressed his admiration/disgust with Kirks womanising ways, and space ships blew up real good. And it didn't insult my intelligence while doing so.
There was still some retarded stuff, like sneaking into Klingon Space as a freighter, and other things I can't recall at the minute, but the amount of retarded was vastly less than the bullshit I had to put up with in Star Trek movies made after First Contact.
Nah... the rule is "even numbered Trek films don't suck"
Khan
Whales
Klingons
Borg
Romulans
you know?
Nemesis killed that rule.
I don't know... I really liked it. Saw it more times in the theatre than any other trek film.
Was this during the drug period? Maybe that helped. Or maybe I was just really jaded against it because I thought they were ripping off Khan, which is my fav one. I will say that looking back, Voyager doesn't seem nearly as bad as I remember it, and even Enterprise isn't as bad as some people say.
Seen it on and off drugs. Its just as good both ways.
Give it another shot.
Random Comment for the day: I still think those "Ear Crawlers" in Wrath of Kahn are probably one of hollywood's creepiest creatures.
This new movie better have some cool alien fauna in it or I'll be bummed out.
Wrath of Khan was obviously better than Nemesis. Yeah, I'm a Voyager fan...but DS9 is just plain better. Obviously :P
Wait, Data died? I skip one movie and Data is dead? What fucking rock have I been under for five years?
The Motion Picture - Ass upon first viewing, but my opinion of it rose quite a bit after viewing the DVD Director's cut. Still very silly in parts, though. And those disco Starfleet uniforms are hilariously bad.
The Wrath of Khan - Pure fucking awesomeness.
The Search for Spock - I don’t think a more contrived way could have been written to bring Spock back to life, but who cares, TOS Star Trek without Spock just ain't right. Otherwise, as a film, it wasn't bad at all. And it was very dramatic when they blew up the Enterprise.
The Voyage Home - Way too much goofball slapstick/save the whales crap for my tastes. Plus, a we finally had a bitch that didn't spread for Kirk. What was her problem?
The Final Frontier - Kirk Vs. God LOL. Plus we get treated to a 50 year old black woman doing a striptease. Gee, thanks.
The Undiscovered Country - Pretty slick for the last TOS movie. I really love the scene when the two space suited Federation guys are picking off Klingons in zero-g like a skeet shoot. The space combat was cool, too. The comedic bits fell way flat, however.
Generations - Pretty stupid. The plot was bad, and it was really gay how they killed off Kirk. I always felt he should have just retired on a horse ranch with a bevy of bitches. The scene where Picard tells Troy that his family died in a fire was some of the best acting in any Trek movie or show, ever. Partick Stewart rules.
First Contact - Second best Trek movie ever, right behind Kahn. The Borg rule, or at least they used to before they got turned homosexual.
Insurrection - I finally saw this recently, and man was it bad. I didn't see the whole thing, however, so I might give it a second chance. But I'm in no rush.
Nemesis - Equal parts very good and pretty bad. But when you take into account that it was the last TNG movie, it was a horrible send-off. "All Good Things…" was a far, far better good-bye. Dig that Federation dune buggy, BTW.
Data died, but some of his memories were transferred into a prototype model with a very simple brain, so we kind of have a retard Data now.
All I have to say about the first Star Trek movie: PPPPHHHHOOOOOTTTTTOOOOONNNNNN TTTTTOOOOOORRRRRPPPPPEEEEEEDDDDDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!Yeah... fuck those fucking things.
Don't forget his subtle changes in Yesterday's enterprise. some GREAT work there. Patrick Stewart is the man.
also: THERE... ARE... FOUR... LIGHTS!
Why do you hate me when all I want is for you to hold me?
I watched that episode for the first time last week and holy shit. I watched the little transition from normal Picard into Alterno Picard several times trying to figure out what changes in his face made it such a drastic and immediate change in tone. It couldn't have been just the higer collar and the darker room.
And why is the bridge so goddamn dark in that episode? How does that help you fight Klingons better?

I do not approve.
PPPPHHHHOOOOOTTTTTOOOOONNNNNN TTTTTOOOOOORRRRRPPPPPEEEEEEDDDDDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, AAWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!
 That shit was great.
It helps having a Shakespearian-trained actor in your sci-fi show.Quote:

I saw Stewart do a one-man version of a Christmas Carol a few years ago on Broadway. It was brilliant.
Agreed, although they're probably the least original.
Remember this episode from TNG's first season? I always thought those aliens would have been really cool eneimes. I wonder why they teased having them return but then never did anything with it? *EDIT* Actually, the answer to that is in the Wiki article's Trivia section.
