hell if i know, but that still involves navigating to the network/friends area. im talking much more general. like when you check the battery charge, or quit a game.

Yeah, Sony definitely needs to implement an in game guide of some sort. Not that I use the friends/networking features for anything, it would be nice to have for when I do.
I always wonder how people can complain about current games costing $60 when we got a lot less game for just as much, if not more of a cost during the 16-bit days.
$60 for Gears of War is a huge upgrade in value over $60 for Donkey Kong Country, even without taking inflation into account.
DKC is much longer than 30 minutes. And just because games were also a rip-off then, doesn't mean we're not allowed to bitch about it now.

Yeah, I don't agree that Gears today is somehow a better value than Donkey Kong Country was then.
Which, conveniently, you pay for. Not to mention that is a particularly bad example since the focus was on singleplayer; multiplayer was not much more than a last-minute add-in.
