I'm on my third time through it now, playing on Superhuman. Resistance is like Halo - the regular difficulty is pretty bland, but once you make things harder sudenly the decisions you're making matter more and the firefights are alot more intense.
I think they did an amazing job with the feel and creativity of the weapons; you unlock different things on each dificulty and by the end of hard mode you were a one-man arsenal. And they feel really solid to fire & reload, with the carbine I completely forget that the controller doesn't rumble.
The level design is uneven - it starts off pretty nondescript, has a couple of highlights in the conversion centre & the battle for Manchester, but doesn't do a lot to impress until you get to London. The battle for London Bridge, taking on the Goliaths in the snow and the ridiculous visuals in the tower are all pretty epic.
I can see it not being considered for all-time classic status or anything when the generation is all said & done, but anyone saying it isn't a good game isn't giving it its due.
