This is one of the few remakes to get it right. Not sure what to compare it to since it's not a direct copy of any of the movies. But I'm not a F13 fan either and this was my favorite, so Dole might hate it.

I dunno Doc, I have a very good vibe about his movie. And while I'm a huge F13 fan, I'm not some fag purist that'll bitch if everything isn't 100% true to the original movies. For example, judging by the trailer, Jason actually runs in this one, and that's fine. I've always thought it was pretty stupid that he previously caught everyone just by walking, anyway.
The F13 movies have always been fun and cheesy, but as actual horror films they've been fairly lame. I'm actually looking forward to one done completely seriously. This director did a great job with the Texas Chainsaw remake, so I'm sure this will kick even more ass.
And see, TCM is one of my favorite movies period. Much less horror. And I really enjoyed that re-make. And this has the same vibe, but it's not the same movie either.
So judging by that -- taking your favorite slasher movie and the same guy remaking it -- should leave you with sum awesum!
I enjoyed the remake.
Going to try and catch the 2 or 4:30 showing today to get my hockey mask fix finally.
The only thing I hated about the movie is that Jason actually takes a prisoner. That's very Un-Jason-like.
That's true. There were plenty of parts where it strayed from the norm.
Like, I really like the part when Clay has that surreal flashback where Jason sits down with them at the dinner table and asks his father, "Reckon you got any of them kaiser blades?"
I also dug the part where Jason enters a pie eating contest, but instead of trying to win, he just cuts everyone's head off.
