Weird- Berringer constantly updated this thread with every shread of F13 info he could find leading up to the remake's release. Now the movie's out and he's AWOL. I honestly think he must be dead.
Either that, or Advocate's right and he got busted for buttering the popcorn of the people sitting in front of him.
My wife and I were going to see this on Friday, but she had to go to the ER, was admitted, and wasn't released until early this morning. We'll have to wait until next weekend to see it. I was just checking the thread to see if Dole a Berringer liked it.
Your wife okay?
Reports of my death and/or incarceration are greatly exaggerated.
Jetman, consider yourself validated. I saw the film Thursday night and I loved it. I would have preferred a little more variety in the kill department but I was satisfied overall. I loved the little nods to the previous films, like the wheelchair in Jason's tunnels. And the tits were stupendous, indeed.
Now I need to finish the Review-A-Thon, I suppose.
Caught this after a two day delay. In any case, really enjoyed it, a lot of fun and much better than the 8-10 duldrums.
I saw it in a prominently black area which meant for a rambunctious theater and it was awesome. Whenever Jason appeared it was met with a chorus of huge screams and laughs. When the black guy started to fight back the place exploded. It was the sort of audience I wanted for Grindhouse but never got.
In any case, the movie. I liked that it was basically parts of the first four movies. Part 1 being the very beginning, two (baghead) being the pre-title part, and 3/4 sort of after that. I agree that the pre-title part was probably the most intense--in fact it was so intense that it almost had me worried that the entire movie would be that way. The sleeping bag kill at the beginning was really brutal I thought. But the movie calmed down after that and went back to F13 formula, which was comforting that they kept to the series, but disappointing that it was ... well.. comforting.
It definitely needed more ch ch ch ha ha has, I think there were maybe two. I'm sorry, if you're going to do Friday the 13th, you have to have them.
But overall it's a bit of a double edged thing, I like that it was true to the series and had Jason killing folks off one by one oblivious to the others, but I don't know, that beginning part stuck with me more than the rest of the movie. I guess it hit harder.
I guess part of me wanted to see the series go in a new direction, while not turning into part 9 (which, still, I haven't seen), and this really didn't do that. Which is okay, fuck it, he's not in space.
And I know it would have ended the series reboot thing, but I really wanted to see Jason's head go into the wood chipper. You can't introduce one of those things and not grind someone into paste.
Pretty fun overall, I'm pleased as a fan, it got a good reaction out of the crowd, and I had fun. It was a solid slasher, true to form, but a bit of a lost opportunity.
And yes, that girl had some rocking tits. My word.
